Peavey should have done more of this in my opinion. The big knock on American-made Peavey gear was never sound or feel or durability, but always attractiveness. Your bass is gorgeous. Though their designs seem to fit better on the basses, IMO. Also maybe better quality on their early import gear; while I haven’t heard much good about their imported amps or guitars, folks who bought the imported basses seemed reasonably happy with them.

Adit: I think the Strat market in the 80s would mainly be the Predator.

And on a completely unrelated note, how close are you to checking out and exactly where are you going to be buried?

I’m finally going to start cleaning/restoring/upgrading this battle scarred and abused T-45. The good basses get played and played a lot. So, this one must have sounded amazing! I’ve yet to plug it in, and won’t until I’m done. I plan to do a thorough cleaning, back of the neck ding removal w/ refinish in oil n wax, sand off the flat black that was sprayed on the front and polish back to a shine, fret level/crown/polish, electronics refurbish and whatever else it needs.

Have fun JB...it looks like a fun rewarding project. I loved the look of the T-45 single pup basses although my T-40 is a sweet bass also, especially as its on the lighter end of the scale for a T-40 and only weighs about as much as a Leyland Mini* lol Best of luck with the restoration.

The neck was stuck in the pocket. I had to pound a wood chisel into the gap to get it to break free. And when it did, a large amount of black paint stayed stuck on the neck revealing burgundy paint in the pocket. I can’t find any other indications that the black is a refin. All routes, even the pickup wire hole, have black paint in them. It must have started as burgundy at the factory and then been painted black due to a flaw. Darn shame if so. I’d love to be able to remove the black to find a salvageable burgundy finish.

So just a warning to my Peavey family - I'm nearly 99% sure they(Guitar Center online ) have a mis-priced bass. They have what looks like a Cirrus BXP to me that has a street price of $300 bucks (I've seen 'em sell for as little as $150 !).
It is listed as
Used Peavey Cirrus Rudy Sarzo Electric Bass Guitar
and the price is $1099.99
Total rip off.
Usually GC is under priced and that's why it's my favorite music store, but even they make mistakes.

Hey there family. So, I've been playing my Foundation S lately, and exclusively. It has Seymour Duncan dip-switch active pickups in it. They sound amazing. This is a P/J bass. 34" scale. Well, I tracked down my old Cirrus and I'm trading this bass plus $500 for my old Cirrus. I will really miss this Foundation S !!! I've become REALLY attached to it. She plays better than any other P/J I've played and by far sounds better. Very modern tone. Lots of growl. I can't wait to get my Cirrus back though ! It's been over 5 years !! So, I will buy another Foundation S in the future.
USA Peavey is THE bass to own. Nothing beats them !

Well flats are not for everyone but it’s all I use. To me they produce a rounder sound and the low B is very usable.
Got her plugged into a Markbass F500 at the moment so doing a bit of experimenting.
