I can't find any more room, or I would own more I'm sure.

At one time I kept 42 basses in racks here in the livingroom,another 30 were stored same way upstairs. Felt oh so pleased with myself for short burst of time,then overload kicks in and I start packing them away . Have a great storage cupboard over the stairs can hold 36 cases. Did the math 36 cases + basses gets near 3/4 ton !

If I didn't have a critical mass situation, I would certainly have more Peavey basses, and maybe an extra amp or two (a 400BH Mark III or IV or Bass 400 head would be cool). My Foundation (with flats), Patriot (w/added neck pickup a la Ric 4003), Dyna Bass (BEAD), Forum Plus (w/Wildes for my passive P/J w/rounds) and Ibanez RB630 loaded with T45 guts (as an honorary Peavey) all have very solid, pragmatic places in my bassist toolbox. I'm just a Patriot body away from having a Franken Peavey as I have a loaded T45 neck, Super Ferrite, bridge and knobs just sitting in the parts bin.

I tinker with the idea of replacing my Dyna with a Super Ferrite equipped Dyna Bass 5 string as it would be just that much more versatile, but the narrow spacing may not work for me. I dunno, as little as I play that particular bass (it's my period correct "5 string" for an 80s cover band), it may not be a big deal.

We had a fun gig on Saturday evening. The TL was working its magic as usual and we had a great day in Austin! I think I’m ready for a string change though.

Holy crap! Now I feel better about my own GAS. I only have a third that many instruments and I can’t keep up with what I have. Course, only a couple are basses though, so I’ve a clear need for more basses. On a side note, while I own six Peavey guitars I have no Peavey basses and now I’ve noticed that people have discovered the quality of Patriots, as it seems like prices are going through the roof. That’s not making things easy.

Good looking Forum 5 string at Guitar Center. I had one and they are very nice basses but tend to be heavy. The one I had was about 11 pounds. This one is priced low.

Need some advice fellas, pulled out the old TL5 last night for rehearsal, put in a fresh battery (i have been running it passive the last few times i played it). Back to rhe problem, turns the volume up, nothing, keep adding volume, nothing and then, HELLO!!. Is this a bad volume pot? All original on this baby, so its about time for something to go bad. Even though it was loud, this bad boy still sounds amazing and the neck feels so smooth. Thanks in advance for the help.

It likely is the pot. I'd replace it and see if that cures it. I believe it will.

Could be. The good news is that they aren't terribly difficult to replace. I'd try some good contact cleaner in the volume pot first. Deoxit gets the nod from me. Slight PITA, in that you have to remove the whole pre to get to the pots. I mean, it's like a five min job

Yeah, not sure I’ve ever seen that finish on a TL-Five. I like!!

Peavey did the occasional odd finish or wood. There are also a bunch of fakes. There’s a local guy selling a bunch of Predators, one each in about twelve different wild colors. He sells them for $450 to $500 when normally $250 would be high. But if you want a Predator in lime green or hot pink, he’s the only game around.

Yeah, Peavey did some some wild finishes from time to time. My TL5 was supposed to have been a custom order along with a guitar in the same finish. A local band back in the late 80's in Montgomery Alabama was signed to a record deal, went to record and was laugh out the studio with the "cheap gear":{ Our Peavey dealer in town heard about it, and contacted Peavey and this is what they sent. All during this time, my friend was introduce to Warwick, and he never looked back. The bass sat in the store for a year. Understand guys, this was the late 80's and this was the first "MAJOR" 5 string bass we have seen in Montgomery. It retail for $1300 (in Alabama, yeah that was going to sit for a while) and I got it dirt cheap. It has served as my gigging bass very well. I have search high and low hoping to find the guitar match to it. I can't remember what Peavey was calling their Strat style guitar of that era. I took it to Meridian in 2000 to the musuem (is it still open?) and they had some people who remembered it. It is the real deal, this is one of the basses I instructed the wife, that it must go in my casket when I check out.
