Lakland man here... I agree about the Millenium designed to compete. Question: were you comparing the Milly with the Skyline Lakland or US? Also, were the guts pre-2002 Barts, post 2002 Barts, or Lakland LH guts?

I owned 3 USA Lakland basses. All were 5 string with Bartolini electronics. One had J/J pu’s. The 5594’s just didn’t have my tone. I will say that my taste in basses has changed through the years.
Well, a Palaedium popped up on Reverb for $399 so I bought it. Now I have three incoming Peavey basses. Sick. I am sick......and happy.

Thanks. I only ask due to my love for both Peavey and Lakland, especially the 55/44-94, and the fact that I still haven't purchased a Millenium. My favorite 55-94, and my favorite bass of all time, was a 2000 with the "old" Bart pickups and pre. The post-2002 Barts were different and darker, and the LH system J/MM + pre is said to be a modern sounding setup, and not something I would be interested in having found my favorite in the old Barts.

Since we're all in the asylum here, I just picked up a Foundation S today off Craigslist. It has the T-40 type tuners, heavy mass bridge, and numbered knobs complete with rubber rings.
I love mine. I bought it new in 86. I've played more shows on that bass than any other. Played it New Years Eve. It feels like going home.
I saw that bass and thought about messaging you..lol Looks like it was played a bunch but not abused. I'd still like to find one in better condition. But congratulations on the bass! Hope it's a real player.
I agree. I will still keep looking for one in better condition and in the original hard case. The price was fair on the one I bought while a lot of them are overpriced.
I rarely play a 4 string bass and now I will have 3 of them. I have a Millennium Plus J/J 4, a passive P/J Forum and the Palaedium. All Peavey's. The last Fender Precision I owned was recently traded for a TL5. The P was a new MIM and a sweet little bass with the typical dead spots that most Fender basses have and the TL5 is a Generation 2 in very good condition. The TL5 has light scratching on the front of the body. Long fingernails? I have seen damage to the fingerboard caused by long fingernails but the fingerboard is clean. The bass looks great and you can only see the light scratches if the light is just right.
I didn't get far into the new year before I bought another bass. Oh well, I had a great December and played a lot of gigs and some were for really good pay so the money was there when I needed it.
Man, I use to think the same thing about six string basses. Even sold a couple I regret because I didn't play them. Now I really could care less what I play. Four string, great! Seven string, great! Actually most stuff been bringing a four string to my original gigs. I play five string on theater gigs because the scores usually require a low C or D...some Bb but I don't have a d-tuner so it's played an octave up.
I play 6's for most reading gigs. Makes it easy with so few shifts. The Cirrus 6's are so easy to play and sound great.
It is fun though to go play some rock/pop music on a 4. The Forum passive P/J that I have is a killer bass. I have TI flats on it and the tone is something that Fender players wish they could get. I owned 2 of the really nice Fender Hot Rod P's which were P/J and this little Peavey plays and sounds much better and I paid $100 for the Forum and a Peavey Backstage Plus guitar amp. Facebook Marketplace is where I found that one.

I was so happy to see Peavey make an almost all Walnut bass. We made tobias basics all walnut like the cirrus. They were very special sounding instruments with the walnut neck laminates. Also used pao ferro for the fingerboards. The Killer B walnut bodies sounded great too. They sound just as good as the tobias basses we made. Cirrus is a tad brighter sounding via the electronics but over all very close tone wise. I would like a 6 string Cirrus one day and it will be walnut as well.

I LOVE my all walnut Cirrus. Best sounding bass I own. SO articulate.
Yeah, it's really something about the walnut body AND neck. Very unique sounding, articulate I would describe as well. The two piece walnut body we did with the five piece maple/purpleheart necks sounded great too. Bit more of an "edge" I think from the maple neck but still you could tell a majority of wood was walnut. Beautiful sounding and fragrant wood to work with.
( Yeah, I know, this ain't bass-related, it's about an amplifier, and a guitar amp, at that. But this IS the Peavey Club, and it's all I got right now, so yer gonna have to sue me !!!!!

New Amp Day !
The past several years I've been noodling around on a couple humble little Fenders (15 and 20 watt), and recently decided to try and hunt down something bigger. In times past, I've gone through several Fender and Peavey tube amps, and even a Mesa Boogie, and they were all great, but outa my price range these days.
A few years ago, I stumbled into one of those US-made, solid-state, 80-watt, Peavey Bandit 112 "red stripe" amps, and really liked it. But we went into a playing hiatus, and I lightened the toy load once again.......and have regretted letting it go ever since, wishing I could stumble across another one, at a decent price.
Well, lo & behold, one of these exact same amps popped up a little while back on my local Craigslist. It grabbed my attention, but I hadn't yet decided I was after a new amp. When the new-amp bug finally bit me, I remembered it but figured it was surely gone, but surprisingly, it was still around !
I actually came very close to recommending it to some stranger at the local music store a couple weeks ago, who was looking at new Peavey amps, but cringing at the prices. Now I'm glad I kept my mouth shut !
Anyway, I contacted the guy, worked him down to $150 from his asking price of $200. The seller (young guy, early/mid 20's) bought it new, years ago (in the same store mentioned above), and never learned to play, so it's in near-new condition. I plugged in and played it there for about 15 minutes (and again earlier this evening), and everything's clean and smooth, and runs 100% !!
When told the guy I'd hoped to find one these same amps in low miles condition, and his mom laughed and said, "No miles? Try ZERO miles!"
$150 isn't a killer deal, from what I'm reading, it's about fair market value, give or take, but it's exactly what was hoping for, with no expectation of actually finding one, especially not one in such clean condition, and I could swing $150 bucks, so I snagged it up..... and I am stoked !

My 6 string Cirrus was the walnut with Pau Ferro board. That was the bass that brought me back to Peavey. Phenomenal playing and sounding bass! Should’ve kept it!
Idle thought: Has Peavey ever had a US-made bass that's 4-string, fretless, has 24 'frets' and 34" scale? I'm not in the market right now but if I was that's what I'd be in the market for. I know they've made a variety of basses that check any three boxes, but I haven't seen one yet that checks all four. (And yes, I know frets can be pulled, but I'm curious about what Peavey had shipped.)

I wish you folk would quit talking about a walnut 6 string Cirrus! I dont own a 6 and need lighter basses....but dang.....those seem like the 'top of the heap'!
Ive decided ive got to get a set of TI flats.....in terms of Peavey basses ive got; 1st Gen Fury, 85 Foundation, 89 Fury and 90's Foundation 5.
The 85 Foundation and 89 Fury wear Fender 9050's, rounds on the other 2...which should wear the TI flats?
