Yeah, when it comes to 5 and 6 string basses, the Cirrus can't be beat! That said, I am nostalgic for the TL series, since I drooled over them and couldn't afford them when I was young. They are awesome too, but if you're wanting the best B string, that 35" scale of the Cirrus wins out IMO/IME.

They would be terrific on the Foundation 5. Another thing you should know is that they last for over 10 years and still sound great. The set I put on my last Gen 2 TL5 were on my Fender Roscoe Beck V for many years and I removed them when I sold the bass. They still sound and feel great.

I am a Thomastic Infield guy. I have three upright basses and two of them have TI Spirocores and the third has TI Belcantos on it. They make wonderful strings that last so very long. By the way, the last time I needed TI flats I called my salesman at Sweetwater and got them cheaper than anywhere else that I have found.

Hey Chuck - I'm starting to get the idea that you're a pretty accomplished musician. You play 6'ers (I can't even play a 5), you read music, and you play upright bass. I'm impressed.

Oh, AND you're a CRAZY Peavey fanatic !!!! YES ! Peavey basses RULE !!!

I'm not as accomplished as I would like to be, however, I am 76 and started seriously working on my reading about 8 years ago. As you probably know, learning becomes more difficult as you age....eyesight not as good.....get tired sooner....more repetitions required to "get it". I am divorced and my only job is music so I have applied myself to learning music in the last 10 years.

That said, the main thing that has helped me is that I have been blessed to work with truly great musicians through the years. The band I am with now is working at least 3 times a week and is led by the pianist who was with the Jim Cullum Jazz band until Jim died. I was also playing with Cullum for the last 8 months of his life. The band has evolved after Jim Cullum died and John Sheridan took over as leader. We are still playing music from the swing era but some more modern tunes as well. John Sheridan is a very accomplished pianist who is like a walking encyclopaedia of music. He knows thousands of tunes, knows the verse to each one, who wrote it and in what year and for what Broadway show or movie. He knows the correct changes to the tunes and in the jazz world that is a rarity since substitutions are frequently used and passed along as the changes to tunes.

Here is John Sheridan playing for a very uninterested audience....."don't cast your pearls before swine"

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your short biography above. Like I said, I'm impressed with your skill level. I am learning to read. I used to read a million years ago and I've forgotten most of it.

I already have a Claro Walnut 6 on the way to me and due to be delivered Wednesday. That will make 3 Cirrus 6's, a G. Gould 6, a Roscoe Century fretless 6 and a Bongo 6. Do you think that is enough or do I need more?

Thanks for the heads up. I saw that listing today and will be looking for the photo.

I’m late to the club..thought you all might like to see an untouched Rudy that I came across with all of the case candy.Still has original strings and the plastic on the covers.
The owner was going to learn to be a rock star but dropped out after the second lesson.Its been stored ever since.
I played it out once so far and it is a monster.Cheers!
