I'm primarily looking for a bass that will suit my style of play, which is rock played with my bare mits. Fender killer is subjective to me because I've played several basses that I preferred over my Fenders. Peavey goodness might be another quirky one because my T series basses couldn't be further apart from the GV and Mills in design theory. As long as it's a quality bass and plays well, I should be able to make it work.

Then again, I'm an 'off the beaten path' kinda guy. Lots of quirky rare birds in my arsenal that probably wouldn't appeal to other players. That works for me!

Good luck with it when it arrives. Hope it’s in excellent condition. It’s more frail than a t40 or foundation so it can’t take the same sort of abuse. If you’re on the fence about keeping it and the neck isn’t in excellent condition, you may want to consider returning it and trying the foundation S.

Putting the b90 neck on a first gen fury would make an awesome bass.

Thank you Cliff. That was one of the things I clarified with the sales rep before I purchased it on Friday. Some of my questions were about the neck (i.e. - warping, twisting, and bowing), and I was told that everything looked good except for the strings.

The updated tracking says it's supposed to be arriving this Wednesday at my local GC store. If things don't look good, I'll be returning it. I'm reserving 20% failure on the pickups and bridge; I'm expecting to modify those two components.

I also remind myself that I'm a curator of sorts, so I'm not hard on my gear at all. Used but not abused is totally fine with me. I know that these instruments may need to get passed on to players that will appreciate them, so I do my best to take care of them as best possible. I will keep the stock electronics and bridge on hand if I decide to upgrade them.

EDIT: I know that GC is flakey on their customer service, so I'm totally aware that he may have just told me what I wanted to hear. If it's junk, I'll just take the shipping cost as a lesson learned.

    Selling my bubinga top, walnut body Peavey USA Cirrus 4. 5 piece, 35” scale neck thru construction. Active radiused Peavey VFL pickups with active preamp featuring separate volume, blend and bass, mid, treble cut/boost controls.

    Bass is in very good condition with no noticeable marks other than a spot in the finish on the back of the neck behind the nut. This one is very light and balances well on a strap.

    It’s no secret by now that these turn of the century USA Cirrus basses are boutique quality and rival those costing five times more. It’s amazing how well these can be set up. This one is set up with low action and no fret buzz.

    Ships in original molded Peavy hard case.

    $800 shipped east of MST locations. Add $25 to MST or PST

    My credit card wants to come out and this one is killing me..but I already..nevermind.

The last RRP for the Fury was $399,you have to ask how many corners were cut and pennys pinched to get a US built instrument out the door and still make a profit.

Bureau of Labor stats reckons wages rose 200% between 85 and 97 yet Furys only increased by 60%.

You may be sick of hearing it but the Palaedium is a fantastic bass. It is sort of the idealized Jazz bass. It will definitely get that Jaco growl but also can do a fat tone reminiscent of the Precision bass. This thing can do any style with the twist of a knob.

They were pricey when new and rather rare but if one comes up for sale, by all means buy it quickly. I bought mine for a very reasonable $399 but it came with no case. I would think $500 for one in the case would be a great price and $600 still reasonable.

I watch Ebay, Reverb and GC and will give a head's up if I see one.

Have I told you that I love my Palaedium? I did? Oh, okay, no need to tell you again but I love my Palaedium.

I like my Palaediums so much that I had one of them converted to a fretless, and (I'll prepare myself for the beating I'll take here) I also swapped out the guts from my USA Cirrus with passive Palaedium pickups and pots.
The pickup placement is obviously a bit different, but to my ears, it's the best of both worlds - the simplicity and powerful midrange of the Palaedium, but with that inherent growl and snap of the Cirrus.
