A little closer on my restoration project. Just need to finish the wiring and solder work. The bridge pickup may be a little too tall, not sure yet.

All wired up and functional. Damn! It turned out nice. May have to tweak the preamp a bit, it's pretty hot right now, but I'm very glad I touch a chance on that dried out, dirty bass.

Was it the gold one with maple neck w/case included ? I just got it at GC online - has a added toggle switch - Hopefully a keeper , if not I return to my local GC .....

I was watching that one for weeks. Almost pulled the tigger a couple of times. My Wife would have pitched a fit so I chickened out. She's right in that I don't need another bass but damn that is a REALLY cool looking bass. Please post a review when you get it. I'm really curious what that added toggle does.

UPS brought me this yesterday. As mentioned, the seller bought this in 1979 and it's been in storage ever since. Near-mint. Slightly yellowed from age. 12.2 pounds. :bored:

All the case candy, including the paperwork, tools, and mute. Strings are still zingy and sounds good as-is, but not my flavor. Debating flats or rounds.

So rehearsal had to get cancelled last night so no playing this in a band format. I did plug it in and play it at the house for about an hour, which was about as long as I could stand it. It has the Bartolini Jazz pups and the older Bartolini NTMB 918F preamp. It played very nicely but thats really all I can tell you other than it is the noisiest bass I've ever owned. I have a feeling the input jack may be bad because it clearly has a grounding issue. if I touch the cable most of the noise goes away. I have a Switchcraft stereo connector at the house to replace it with but I'm going to rip the whole thing out, shield the cavity and redo the solder connections while I'm at it. Really can't offer anymore than that at this point.

I assume this is not typical of a Bartolini preamp. One other thing for those that have used this preamp before. How does the mid control work on this? I have a Push Pull config on the Mids and I'm trying to figure out how that works. I assume the sweep is on when you pull it out and then cut and boost when it's pushed in but how does that work? No toggle switch for presets on this one.
