I agree with Chuck - We just recorded a demo and I used my Axcelerator, of all the basses I have to choose from. It sounds like a mix of an Alembic meets a jazz bass. Dead silent electronics, low action, and growl up the wazuu. When we get our demo mixed, I'll post it. This is a bargain.
Is this an appropriate place to discuss U.S. Peavey amplification? Because I want to discuss this somewhere. If not here, would somebody please point me toward a more appropriate thread?

You're focused on power consumption and not spl (sound produced)... With old peavey, cabinets make a huge difference.. Mark heads may have been the most reliable ever produced
Megabass is very cool -- it's an example why Watts is so misunderstood in the bass community.Peavey Megabass and another 212 might cure what ails you.

I speculate that two 212 cabs running at 200 watts per side would sound phenomenal through that amp. I have a Megabass and a T-Max tucked away for a rainy day. Both need minor repairs (new knobs and pots) but, they sound fantastic and I got them for a bargain.
I would consider this if I played a six-string. I've never seen that style Peavey pickups on a six-string before.

Another killer cab. I have one as well and I think it sounds very good. The only downside is the massive weight. The crazy part of me wants another to run an 812 setup.
I recently scored a teal stripe TKO with a Black Widow and that sound has me seriously contemplating the big-ish Peavey rig I mentioned a few posts back. I can handle heavy, but I can't do huge or awkward in my practice space. A pair of 1x15s seems doable, and hopefully would be loud enough.
Back in the day the Megabass was the head I wanted to replace my Centurion with. Loved that head. Been thinking of picking one up for nostalgia. Probably not for a little while though.
I used a Peavey Centurion Mark III and the 215 Black Widow cab back in the day. I kept up easily with a loud drummer and a guitarist running a 50W, then later, 100W Marshall head. It wasn't even working hard to do it.
I think it would be fine.

I have that exact amp, the WT800. The cutting out was a common problem that would eventually happen to all the early WT800s.
Mine has been bullet-proofed by a local amp builder named Jon Cooper. He’s an engineer that also travels (for fun) with Andy Wood and Ben Eller as their amp and guitar tech. If you don’t know who they are, they’re two of the best guitarists in the world and local dudes to me and Jon.
Anyways, the older WT800s (mine is a hand numbered mid 90s) had some parts that were sub-grade that overheated in time and failed. The well known fix is available online. I purchased the components needed. Jon mounted them to a heat sink, that he fashioned, in the amp and it’s ready for another 30+ years of service.
