U.S. Peavey Club

I have yet to try out a PVH212. My dream 'budget' rig last summer was the PVH212 and an Eden WT800 (880W RMS bridged into 8 Ohms). The Eden was listed as 'cutting out' and sold super cheap before I could grab it.
I want to PM you but you’re unable to get messages. If you’re interested in getting my WT800, let me know. I went to the Dr this morning and not only is my dog racking up vet bills... but, I’m going to need a surgery for hernia repair. I’m blaming heavy PA gear LOL.

Also, I’ll be selling some more basses soon.

That sucks. Sorry to hear you got hit with the double whammy.

I was watching that one for weeks. Almost pulled the tigger a couple of times. My Wife would have pitched a fit so I chickened out. She's right in that I don't need another bass but damn that is a REALLY cool looking bass. Please post a review when you get it. I'm really curious what that added toggle does.

The gold Foundation 2000 bass with the "mystery" toggle switch arrives tomorrow , I'll report back ...

I agree with Chuck - We just recorded a demo and I used my Axcelerator, of all the basses I have to choose from. It sounds like a mix of an Alembic meets a jazz bass. Dead silent electronics, low action, and growl up the wazuu. When we get our demo mixed, I'll post it. This is a bargain.
I totally agree with you on the Axcelerator. I have a bunch of basses and my Axcelerator very well be the best sounding one. The Alembic meets Jazz Bass comparison is a fair one. I lucked upon mine about 6 months ago on the GC site for $229. Absolutely the best gear deal I’ve scored in over 30 years of playing.

Thanks! But, seeing the losses suffered recently by my fellow Tennesseans, from the tornado that hit Nashville, Cookeville, and surrounding areas... I consider myself very fortunate to only have some bills and a minor surgery to deal with.

I have that exact amp, the WT800. The cutting out was a common problem that would eventually happen to all the early WT800s.

Mine has been bullet-proofed by a local amp builder named Jon Cooper. He’s an engineer that also travels (for fun) with Andy Wood and Ben Eller as their amp and guitar tech. If you don’t know who they are, they’re two of the best guitarists in the world and local dudes to me and Jon.

Anyways, the older WT800s (mine is a hand numbered mid 90s) had some parts that were sub-grade that overheated in time and failed. The well known fix is available online. I purchased the components needed. Jon mounted them to a heat sink, that he fashioned, in the amp and it’s ready for another 30+ years of service.

OH THAT SUCKS! I'm sorry to hear that. I'll PM you

Firebass 700 ? Is that what you guys are talking about ? What a GREAT amp.

Tonight at rehearsal I was using my Peavey MKIV through an SWR WM410 cab. WOW, what tone !! That Mark 4 has such punchy, warm tone and reminds me of the 80's Rudy Sarzo Ozzy Speak of the Devil tone. The again, at that time Rudy was playing FULL Peavey ! Peavey bass, amps, cabs, etc. KILLER, bulletproof gear !

The Peavey MK and Firebass (Nitro, etc) are the kind of amps that can fall out of the back of your truck on the way to the gig, then tumble down a flight of stairs to the stage, fall off the stage, then plug into the cabs and they STILL work with zero effort. Peavey vintage RULES !!!!!!!

Peavey has made lot of good stuff over the years, and it's a dang shame that I'm late to the party. Based on the small samples of Peavey amps I have (T-Max, Megabass, and 120/120) I can only imagine what the other heads might've sounded like. I did have a TKO type amp a few years ago and really liked it. I had that amp about the same time I had my red Foundation 5 with super ferrites and a maple neck (should have never sold them).

I've seen some pictures floating around with him playing a Musicman bass as well.
You're right - I just Googled it. Musicman bass. Ampeg amp. I SWORE he played Peavey amps back then.

Been there my Labrador needed an operation/tablets sold my EBMM Stingray, got another 18 months with him never regretted it. Hope your dog gets better & you as well JEDI .

So I unboxed and played my Inca Gold Foundation 2000 but couldn't play it through my cool Roland Cube 120xl amp @ my cable is old and no longer works , Also after reading online I believe that toggle switch is probably a series/parallel mod (I'll have to check the control cavity wiring) , Neck and frets are almost unplayed , It plays great but I need to make minor truss rod adjustment to correct a almost too low an action , It almost sounds like a cross between a fretless & a sitar , It'll be fine , I'm very happy with this bass and the case too
