The G Bass does not sound the same as the Cirrus, I like the sound of the G Bass better.
The pickup is in the center single pickup location and the pickup is a "Wide Aperture Active VFL Plus" pickup which is a different pickup from the VFL's in the Cirrus.

I personally did not care for the G bass tone and I love the Cirrus basses so it is a matter of personal likes/dislikes.

I have owned a G bass and a single PU Forum and disliked the tone of both of them.

I own both Millennium and Cirrus basses. The Millennium is warmer sounding to me while the Cirrus has a very sweet and clear modern tone to my ear. Part of that is due to my preference of TI flats on my Millennium basses and D'Adarrio XL's on the Cirrus. My Peacock Blue Cirrus 6 does have TI flats on it and it sounds great as well.

Preferences on tone are very personal and with good reason. I typically play jazz, usually on upright bass but mostly play my electric basses in church. I am hearing impaired due to small arms fire while I was in the Army and that certainly has something to do with my preferences. We tend to overlook the fact that amplification plays such a big part in our tone.....we talk about the basses/strings and usually ignore the amps used. I favor Aguilar GS 112 cabinets and power them with a Tone Hammer, an AG 700 or one of my Genz Benz Shuttle heads.

I should add that while the G bass and the Forum I mentioned are not my favorite Peavey designs, they still deliver very usable bass tones and are great instruments. Their tone may very well be your favorite cup of tea.

Any of that peavey liquidation stuff is hit or miss . kodiakblair mentioned to me that some of those parts may be , seconds , rejects and anything in between , I was lucky , The 4 string rosewood Foundation 2000 neck I received from that same seller is a keeper , Aside from some tape residue on the headstock , The neck is straight and frets are new and just in need of a polishing , No nut installed but tuner holes and neck mounting holes were predrilled

I bought the tuners and will use them on one of my Foundations - I spoke with the "fella" Matt Umanov , He's been in business since 1965, He buys, sells and repairs vintage guitars- He admitted he didn't know what they were . Way back in the 90s while roaming around bleeker st area of nyc , I purchased a american vintage '62 Jazz bass from Matt - I walked around with that bass & tweed case all day and then took the night train home with it - Brought back memories

I just looked at GC adds and realized again for the first time why I don't look at GC adds! Where's the description? Where are the detailed pictures? In the title of a foundation S, It doesn't even say "S", the one pic is so dark you can hardly see the J pup and can't make out the writing on the headstock...its like a shot in the dark buying an instrument on-line under the best circumstances, much more so with no info or pics...JMHO is all.

Whats your opinions on the T45? I want to add one to my collection at some point. Seems they're rare on the market place.
I read some above discussions on single pup basses, interesting. I'm starting to get a handle on pick-up placement after all the years playing bass... I think with tone knob/hand placement you can achieve a plethora of sounds from single pup basses...yup plethora! lol. Anyway I love my T20 and Patriot basses!

So T45 anybody?

I recently scored a last model Dyna 5 from GC for $249. It arrived today and I am totally blown away with this bass. The electronics are fantastic and the B string is amazing. The PU's are humbuckers and they sound lovely.

It needs a lot of TLC. The truss rod cover is off in the photo because the neck had too much forward bow and I am working on that. It was described as "good" condition and it is better than that. It had some black rub marks on the white body but whatever it was came right off with some auto polish. Someone had apparently waxed the bass with paste wax so it will take some time to get it removed. There were globs of wax in every crack. I had to soak the knobs in alcohol and scrub them with a toothbrush to remove the wax from the knurling. One of the tuners has been replaced with a silver one so I will wait until I get a replacement before cleaning the fingerboard and polishing the frets.

All in all I feel like I made a great score with this bass.

I keep forgetting I have a T-45! I’ve been experimenting with flatwounds and need to put some on it, and include the bass in my “study”.

What a happy day! I got my Foundation 5 earlier in the week and today got some good time to dig into it. She plays like a dream and the sound is that thick tone you get with those later 90s pickups (unfairly maligned in my opinion) when you crank the pickup close to the strings. It's high output at that point but the harmonic saturation is phenomenal. The finish has some bubbling (uniform over the entire body) which I initially took to be a home done sparkle finish but hey, I play for the sound and feel and it actually looks good under stage lights. The only thing that seemed strange was that the neck is a lot thicker feeling than my Foundation 4 from a year later. Not a problem as it still feels great but not what I was expecting. This one's pretty light as well so I think I won the bass lottery this week. With this bass, I have everything I need to play, jam, gig or record now so technically my GAS should be over...yeah right. I'll still be looking for one more fiver down the road but that can wait.

My T-45 is in really nice shape, and pretty! So, I paid a good price for it. I think $500 IIRC w/ case. I doubt I’ll sell it cause it’s like pulling teeth to get someone to pay a fair price for these vintage tone monsters! Selling two T-40s a while back, was more work than it was worth, and I have sellers remorse for my white and RW one.
