A mahogany Patriot popped up on GC's website for $134. It looked pretty good although they listed it as fair condition. I tried to buy it but it was already gone.....gone......gone......your cart is empty......gone!

There was also a white Patriot yesterday or last night that is gone today as well.
Yeah, and you are the one that has me wanting one after your posts about how you like them. When that one came up at a bargain price I was ready to pounce but was already too late. Hah. One guy can't get all the "good" deals, can he? I just hope it went to a Peavey fan instead of someone only wanting an inexpensive bass. It really looked pretty good to me and the photos were much better than most GC photos.
I already bought a bass this week and an expensive one at that so I should just sit on my wallet for quite a while. Temptation to grab a bargain is difficult for me to resist.
Here is what is coming to me...this is the ad where my seller got it from. It has better photos than the ad I got it from.

WOW, that Patriot was GORGEOUS !!! For $134 someone got a BARGAIN !! Let's HOPE it's not a repeat of the Hog Foundy with the ski jump and truss rod issues.
The truss rod was fine in the Hog Foundation. I don't think it had ever been touched. The neck was screwed up from using the micro tilt. I wonder whose hands that disappointment will come to.
What a shame (I'm referring to the Mohagony Foundation returned 3 times on GC Used for those who don't know what we're talking about). I LOVE this micro tilt function. Peavey has SO many innovations that other basses just don't have. It really makes me angry when I see Fender basses selling for astronomical prices and people just pay and EVEN say it's not that expensive. No innovation, nothing changed in 60 years. Of course some will argue if it ain't broke, or why change perfection, and all the other excuses. Yes, excuses.

I agree that if it is used as designed and a small adjustment is made it can work okay. I have come to believe that a wedge shaped shim (Stewart McDonnald sells them) is a much better solution since it fully supports the heel of the neck. Discussions about this with our brother 58kites brought me to this way of thinking.
On that Foundation, the neck had a lot of forward bow and someone cranked on that micro tilt without loosening the neck mounting screws enough. When they got done they had raised the heel of the neck almost 1/16"! All that bass needed was a truss rod adjustment and it would have played great. Too bad. It also had my preferred rosewood fingerboard.
This little jewel came to me with a lot of forward bow in the neck. Luckily no one had messed with any of the adjustments. I adjusted the truss rod and it set up beautifully. The micro tilt was cheerfully ignored.
Also I agree about Fender basses not really being superior. There are some great ones, for sure, but plenty of mediocre ones too. This passive Forum is so much better than either of the two Fender Hot Rod Precision basses that I owned. That was Fender's answer to the passive P/J and they were part of the American Standard line so they were not cheap. The only thing I found superior is that the fit and finish was better than my little Forum but the Forum plays better and sounds fantastic. The tone is so much better than the Fender basses that I have had.
Fender made some great passive basses the last decade or so. The Roscoe Beck IV and V are fantastic basses that were worth the high price they sold for but evidently most buyers didn't think they were worth it. Too bad. They sounded more like a jazz bass than a jazz bass. LOL
... And I'll bet you paid less than $200 bucks for that Peavey Pbass. The neck is comfier than a Fender, and in both live and studio applications, I'd guarantee nobody would know it wasn't a Fender, no matter how good your ear is. So, is fit and finish worth the extra $1,000 ? Not in my book.
I paid $100 for the bass and a Peavey Backstage Plus guitar amp. I found them on Facebook Marketplace. That is the best deal I have ever made. There is a black one on Reverb for $500 and it is still a bargain considering how good they are.
I hope a Peavey guy got it too.
As far as liking a Patriot...
To me, Peavey basses seem to fall into two categories...the earlier passive/basic/old school sounding, and later on.... active/fancy/more modern sounding.
I prefer the passive, basic, old school sounding ones and the Patriot fits that category for me.
They're relatively light and they seem to come pretty cheap most of the time.
Anybody who likes the sound of Super Ferrites would probably like a Patriot, but the pickup placement does make it different from a Foundation, Dyna, T20, etc.
I have not measured how close it is to StingRay pickup placement but it is obviously further south than the P position and makes it sound a bit unique.
Plenty of mids with the added Super Ferrite bite and not as much bottom as some basses, but I think it responds well to adding bass with your amp.
I also like it with flats.
What I like about mahogany Peavey basses is that it seems Peavey treated them as special order in the factory and they seem to be "staighter/tighter/cleaner" built that the standard 80's Peaveys.
The neck looks good to me on that one.
The white body has aged to a nice shade of vanilla, but appears to have a few scratches and dents.
Too bad the pickguard is painted because it doesn't look like it has the standard crack at the output jack, maybe some light solvent would remove it....maybe.
It needs the neck shifted a bit to get the strings centered.
I have measured it!
The Patriot pickup is centered at 29 5/8" from the nut. To put it in perspective, the split coil P bass/Fury pickup is centered at 28.5" (I think the slanted SF Fury/T20 is also located at the same spot) and the Stingray is centered at 30.5". Therefore, the Patriot pickup falls right in between those two placements. If one put another SF butted right up against the bridge side of stock pickup in the Patriot and ran the pickups in parallel, that would be pretty much spot on for a passive Stingray tone. If I didn't already have 4 and 5 string Stingrays, I would most certainly get another Patriot, another Super Ferrite and a Mojotone 2EQ Stingray preamp clone and make a Stingriot/Patray.
The Ric 4001/4003, when adjusted to 34" scale, has the bridge pickup centered at 29 7/8", so it's my theory that this was the template for the Patriot pickup placement, as the soloed Ric bridge pickup is a really killer rock tone. The Guild B302 has single coils in the Ric spots, too. Pretty much the only other bass that riffs on Ric's recipe.
For more relativity, the SF equipped Foundation/Dyna has a neck pickup centered at 28" and bridge pickup centered at 32". A 70s J bass has the neck at 27 3/4" and bridge at 31 7/8", so the Foundation is much like a 70s J shifted towards the bridge.

If you want a very good 6 at a cheap price this Axcelerator may be for you. I owned one and it was a great bass. The neck feels similar to the Cirrus but my impression was that it was flatter in radius, has the wonderful ABM bridge and really musical 2 band EQ.
IIRC I paid less than $500 for mine in the Peavey hardcase and my bass was in mint condition. My only niggle about the bass is the "mother of toilet seat" pickguard. Black 3 ply would have looked so much better.
