The forum I bought for my friend arrived today. It is in very nice shape. A bit of polish and it will look great. The neck had a lot of forward bow when it arrived so I was concerned that the neck might be a problem but the truss rod nut was not really engaged. It turned easily and the neck came right where it needed to be. I also lowered the bridge saddles and set the intonation.

It plays and sounds great. I just sent my friend a text and he is coming in about an hour to get the bass. LOL Christmas comes early in Texas!

I'm sure I will get excommunicated for saying this but...I have played two Fender basses that kill all Peavey basses I own. Both are unattainable for me so take it for what it's worth. Other than those two examples, yes my Peaveys kill all the other Fender basses I have tried.

That thing has had a tough life. I abuse my gig bass... this thing is rustier than the one I keep in my trunk 24x7x365

Very tough life. Salt air and lots of time not on a stand, falling over. Wonder if it was transported without a case, too?

This one isn't USA...but I'm curious, do you all think this is a plywood bass due to the way the black on the burst comes into the body so much? Did Peavey make plywood instruments?

Plywood isn't a de merit as far as i am concerned. But no, i don't know if they did. My 80's Cort is plywood, may have been made in the same factory as some import Peaveys?

I don't doubt it, and I have nothing against plywood, I was just wondering if Peavey used plywood or is that just an awful (IMO) looking burst finish?

When the dark part of the burst comes in that deep on the forearm bevel, it's more often than not to hide a veneer line or plys.

Just snagged a sunburst fretless foundation on eBay for 190 (180 if you wanna count the bonus rewards offer they gave me!) Looks pretty dirty but well kept, only glaring thing was it was retrofitted with a Badass 1 bridge, which ive never owned before, might pull it and try to source a trapezoid. I’ve never owned a fretless and never really expected to, but the time and price were right for me. Even if I never use it as a fretless, I’ve always wanted a sunburst foundation, so maybe I could find a fretted neck for it. I’m excited!

Its the only one I’ve ever seen, and the mismatched wood makes me think it was stripped and stained from a solid color. It does look neat tho!

Cool! I have a sunburst FL that came without knobs...which knobs does yours have?

Thanks, it looks to be a fairly good job also. I don't see sanding swirls or brush marks...
