I also have an anvil bass case. It's a 20 lb, 3/8" ply build, so not 50 lbs heavy. It's kept any bass that travels in it perfectly safe, so it's worth the weight. See what I did there? haha, I'm so punny! ba-da-boom!
I'm sure it has. The word is out on our beloved US Peaveys.
So sick! I have a friend that would die for a pink Foundy. We have been keeping our ear to the ground for one.
I really like Peavey's metallic colors, the 62 Blue, Metallic Green, CA Red, Salmon Pink, Charcoal Gray, etc... However, most of mine are black, which never gets old and tiring (to me).
If I had a time machine, I would see if (or very aggressively bribe) the Peavey Custom shop for a nice matched set in the Metallic Green with matching headstocks: Foundation, Foundation S, Patriot and 5 string DynaBass. All Super Ferrites, of course.
I've been looking for a Patriot for some time, and I love the mahogany ones like that. But the action ... wow! I do my own setups, so that's no issue. But I'm afraid that neck might be warped. Did you see how high it is?
I did note that, I was thinking maybe the picture angle...? Could be a problem...pricey too!
I've has a few Foundations over the year. Sold them and always regretted it. I just got another one and have been setting it up. I have an issue with the seller misrepresenting the condition and am working through that right now. It may need to go into the shop to get some finish repair. Once that's resolved I'll post a NBD ... its a real beauty. USA, Super ferrites, pointed head stock with outline, old style tuners, blue.
I've been setting it up and have noticed a few things in common with the Foundations I've had.
They really want the neck relief set almost perfectly flat. It always takes me a lot of tweaking to get them right, but I end up with really low action and no fret buzz. I can usually bet between 1.5mm and 1.75mm at the 12th fret. But I always end up setting the neck almost perfectly flat, unlike Fenders for example that tend to want a decent amount of relief.
The necks are super stable. Once set, they never change.
What's with Peavey and crooked necks? Two of the three I owned have had the neck crooked. By crooked I mean that on one side (bass or treble) the string is closer to the fret board than on the other. Of course its an easy fix. Just loosen the neck bolts, force the neck in the direction it needs to go, then tighten.
I always wonder when I see them for sale with missing truss rod covers. How does the cover get lost! I think its because that damn screw and cover are hard to line up to put back on. It always takes me several minutes of fiddling with it to get it back on. I see how someone might give up
All in all, a great bass!

This looks real, not a camera angle. I wonder if the truss rod can straighten this out?
Yikes! Sort of appears closer at the last fret then in the middle. Probably easily adjusted out. Not worth the risk at that price... not to me anyways.
Yes, I saw that as well and the action in the photo was my first hesitation. Price too high to take the risk of the neck and truss rod being jacked up, imo. Too bad.

There's also this Patriot. I would think this is earlier or mid-80s? That headstock logo and markers, as well as the tuners, are different than the late-80s versions. What year does everyone think this is, based on that? Good price it seems. Action looks high in those photos as well, though.

I don't know why but I used to mix up AudioTaper and PeaveyPlayer all the time. I know one is Jordan, and I'm pretty sure it's PeaveyPlayer . Jordan and I are also Facebook friends and I know who he is, I just mix up the two for some odd reason. I think they had similar posts a few times.
Here it is, my new blue Foundation. I love the color. And it sounds better than any other Foundation I've tried. Actually I don't think I've ever played any bass that could produce such a wide variety of sounds. Between the two pickups and the tone, you can dial in anything from thump to whine, and anything in between!
The neck, headstock, frets, and hardware are in pristine condition. The head stock especially, looks brand new. And it setup beautifully with super low action and a straight neck. Here's the problem ... the seller listed it as mint condition. Turns out it had a bunch of bad scratches on the back, and a poorly finished dowel job on on the strap button. I could have returned it since it was listed incorrectly, but I really like the sound and the color of this one so I decided to negotiate with the seller. Repairs to the finish are $100 and I could only get him to cover $50. Oh well, I'm into it for $50 more than expected, but I really like it, so not going to lose any sleep over it.
Note: The scratches were much worse when I received it than in this pic. Someone had touched them up with a light blue sparkly nail polish and made a huge mess of it. Some wet sanding and acetone got rid of that. The repair shop says the scratches are deep, but not into the color. They should be able to make it look pretty good.
