I'm not sure about the color, but they did offer the 2tek bridge as an option. Standard control plate was three holes, with volume, balance, stacked bass/treble. Maybe someone drilled the plate for a 4th hole, and went to separate bass/treble controls. That suggests an aftermarket pre.

I'd say that was modified with an aftermarket pre. That may be a custom control plate too. The holes don't seem to line up from the normal 3 control style.

during this time period, they would do just about any custom modification.

the dealers had a blue price book.. many wouldn't tell you about this series of options

I love it how Peavey is always described as "good for a beginner". Geez... If only the prices still reflected that. It seems that GC Used has $299 as the price for used Foundations now. Sadly, the days of cheap Peaveys are fading.

I remember buying hydras, nitros, patriots, fury, foundation, axcellerators, Millenium all for under $150... sheesh I used to get t60s for $60 at garage sales

Glad I bought them when I did.

Poplar was the wood of choice for many Peavey models, since when has stocks of it ran low ?

Folks recognize buying vintage means seasoned woods, whether poplar, alder, even ash so that's another factor. Poplar may not be considered extinct or protected but the quality of poplar you'd be getting today may not match 80's peaveys at the time.

I doubt much thought is given to the timber, very few are even aware their Peaveys were made from poplar.

They should fetch better prices, honestly. If a 30-40 year old bass isn’t worth more than a day’s pay or a dinner out with the family, then our perspective and expectations are off!

Like others out there I could kick myself for the one's I passed over years ago, with the naive thought that they would still be there if I changed my mind as no one else would want them .

Agreed I got my '86 Foundation with OHSC for less than a, new Squier VM Jazz bass great bargain. But around 2010 I saw on a guitar shops website an, '85 sunburst with maple neck Foundation for £100. It was there for a good while and I kept on looking at it and of course, when I finally decided to buy it it was gone. Again my thinking that no one else would want a Peavey bass but me.

I haven't seen that much price creep. There is some for sure but nothing huge yet. US Cirrus's I've noticed going up.

I haven't seen such big price increases either.

Last 2 Foundations on eBay pulled in £240 and £300. US Millennium with birds eye neck made £370. I sold a 3rd gen Fury last month for £150.

With early 80's Japanese Squiers going regularly for £600+ and Tokais easily fetching £400+, US Peaveys have a whole lot of catching up to do.

That's a good point, the Peavey's seem to be more affordable. Even if the prices are creeping up, they are still undervalued for sure.
