I bet they are the same. My picture is not very good. That basement room sometimes makes for dark/underexposed looking photos. Here it is with a flash.

This beautiful Foundation in natural mahogany with a rosewood fret board was for sale locally on Offer-Up and it ended up coming home with me for $300. You can still sometimes get them for low $200's but not this nice, and the prices seem to be rising. The guy wanted 4, so I was fine with 3. Its a nice instrument and a good addition to the collection.

One of the straightest bass necks I've ever seen. I was able to set the action super low with no buzz.

Rosewood fret board. These seem to be less common than the maples. It is super smooth and has an interesting grain.

Neck/head stock has a vintage tint to it. I really, really like it. Check out the pic below of the head stock side by side with my other Foundation. The color is much darker.

No fret wear. All the hardware and frets cleaned up nicely. No significant dents or dings, Barely a mark on it.

I love the feel of the nearly raw wood in my hands when I play it.

Sounds like a Foundation, but is more aggressive and gritty than my other Foundation. Its a good sound, but I actually prefer the sound of my other Foundation. Must be the mahogany and lack of poly coating that gives it that extra grit/growl/twang?

It was the dirtiest bass I've ever purchased. Not sweat, dead skin, smoke ... but actual dirt. It looked like it had been stored outside in the dust/sand here in Phoenix. Maybe all that dirt preserved it, because it cleaned up nice!

Defects or issues? Nothing of any significance. A crack in the corner of the control cover on back. Its epoxied and drying now. As you see in a lot of old Peaveys, someone had chiseled (or dremeled) around the access hole to the truss rod nut to make enough room for a wrench. It was nice and neat and didn't show with the truss rod cover on - all good. Except that they removed a little too much wood where the truss rod cover screw goes. Basically there was no hole for the screw to go into. I used epoxy and sawdust to build it up a little, drilled a small hole, then screwed in the cover. Worked fine.

I bet that is a 1987. There seem to be a lot of them out there with lightweight tuners and the triangle string tree. There were 2 in my area a few months back $350 and $375 but I couldn't afford it. Wanted to replace mine. Mine was a steal at $80 missing the tone pot (which sounded good so I left it that way knowing that you get more top without it in the way) with the logos sanded off other than handcrafted in USA and the pinstripe

Of course none in question had rosewood.

Still got stolen with everything else, my heavy relic fury has been turned down by the theives twice though.

I used F one fretboard oil on mine, same results, probably very similar to the Dunlop and Ernie ball product.

If anyone sees this one it's mine, and it is one of the few that I actually had pictures and serial numbers in the police report because it had been purchased within a year of being stolen.

Already bought a backup bass recently, so I thought I'd pass this on...seller wants buyer to pay for shipping, and seems nice (messaged her briefly). She stated that the bass is like new....

Speaking of string trees ... is this original on my '87 Patriot? It doesn't look like it to me.

FYI, as an interesting point, the date 8-13-87 is written inside the neck pocket on this bass. I've never seen this on a Peavey before. Of course I haven't looked at that many of them.
