Awesome.

It looks like the product line is pretty much the same as the base Gibson product line, but with a slightly different look. I hope they bring back some of the other stuff (lower wattage 12 band amps, tube amps, pedals) eventually.

This is hands down the best news I've heard all week. Here's hoping Peavey (or whoever) doesn't hose it up.

If Peavey is the one who bought them out, the quality should be quite good.
Peavey puts out a quality product, and I think they can only do right by Trace. Do you suppose they will be assembled in Peaveys US Plant, or in Asia?

Not sure on that one, but I guess its all speculation at the moment anyway!

Their contact details on the website mention Corby which is in the Midlands here in England, and not Essex which is where (I think) their original plant was. Somebody else here will know, Im sure.

As for me, I'm really hoping that these amps are still going to be made in England.

I'm guessing that with time the range will diversify and expand, to include lower priced far east manufactured stuff like it used to.

the site states they are from Essex, and that they will have powerstages ranging from 200-1000Watts. woop! :)
it would be kinda cool if Peavey have bought them over; as long as they have the original engineers, and are using the same quality, if not higher quality parts!!

im excited, regardless. i missed what the woman said on the phone, it may very well have been Peavey limited, tho. I'll phone in a week when Clive is back in the office, and let ya'll know what I find out.

This rules!! Best news i've heard in a while. Anyway, When the other "trace is toast" thead was posted, i checked the trace site and it was down for a little...perhaps the were preparing to launch the new one.

If these are in fact made in brittain, and anywhere as good as the old ones were. I know what my next head will be the AH1000 12-band :hyper:

Interesting. There has been no news of a sale, but perhaps the wonderful folks from Gnashville have awakened to the fact that the parent-company association actually hurts the brand name in question. I never gave them credit for being that clever. :rolleyes: I wish it were otherwise, but I suspect it's just clever marketing. Time will tell.

Interestingly, the 12-band AH1000 with the electroluminescent front panel didn't sell very well when it was released in 2000. It's all just a devious plan I tell you! (Hoping that I can be proven wrong!)

I can see why they didn't sell so well. The 500/500 watt 12 band is nice on paper, but as long as we're talking TE watts (and associated prices) I'd much rather pay less and get a 300 or 500 watt single channel version, or a V4. If you can regularly compete with no problem when you're turned up to 3, you have overspent.

Just to throw an extra spanner in the works..

Folks are saying Peavey, but..

trace-elliot.co.uk is registered to a "Cliff Cooper". Interestingly, a fellow by that name founded Orange Amps, and according to their site, still runs them.

I'm with Switched. It's always a big deal when somebody buys someone, there's fireworks and press releases and a parade:hyper: , and they claim the quality will stay high and it's good for everyone, blah blah blah.

Nothing like that happened; *if* Peavey bought them from Gibson, I'm sure someone at Peavey would have written the "glorious return of Trace-Elliot" article and posted it all over the internet. It's better this way - real bass players discover ancient civilization and grassroots support world-wide brings the once revered company back to it's former glory.

Perhaps Gibson will sell off the rights to another once great company they ran into the ground - Tobias.:hmm:
