it could just be coincidence that the webmaster of the trace site has the same name as the founder of orange. but if this is true and cliff has bought it well then it will be great. orange are only made in the uk and their quality is very good.basstrader said:I'm with Switched. Nothing like that happened; *if* Peavey bought them from Gibson, I'm sure someone at Peavey would have written the "glorious return of Trace-Elliot" article and posted it all over the internet. It's better this way - real bass players discover ancient civilization and grassroots support world-wide brings the once revered company back to it's former glory.
Perhaps Gibson will sell off the rights to another once great company they ran into the ground - Tobias.
it is quite strange though that they didnt take part in MusikMesse....
well only time will tell, but i hope it true i want me a trace AH1000-12 with a 1x15 and 4x10 and im buying in the next 4/5 months.....

There are no links that I can find to
that section, they probably figured that was adequate and never bothered to remove the actual pages.
As for TE and Peavey sharing some contact info... there's any number
of ways that could be without Peavey having ownership of Trace.
Maybe Peavey had some extra space and Trace is leasing from them.
Maybe they're sharing some rental office space for secretarial stuff.
Who knows.

just a fyi .. the peavey connection might be there distributed by the same company
like in canda gibson is distrabuted though yorkville it does not mean they own them just shipped from a same warehouse

I don't think anyone is disputing the quality of gear made in other countries. The stuff you mentioned is all brilliant.
For me the reason that its important that at least some Trace gear is still made in Britain, stems from the viewpoint of tradition. Trace became a national institution for UK bassheads everywhere in the 90s.
The same goes for Orange or Marshall, if they were suddenly made overseas. I'd guess that there are probably some Swiss companies that you would hate to see relocate elsewhere? Likewise I don't think many swedish bass players would be too happy if EBS's manufacture suddenly shipped abroad?

phoned trace to see what´s up. it was peavey who answered! they bought trace (the new proto types) at the musikmesse and are starting production in july/august. the guy on the phone would send me details and prices for all the stuff. i´m not sure what to think , but i´m curious anyhow

Good Idea! Send EBS over here to Milwaukee - I'd like to be part of the Quality Management System for them, rather than the place making industrial power conditioners that I'm with now.alibloke said:...some Swiss companies...

Yeah... Yeah, that's it - I'd whip'em into shape! (yeah - like there's a problem with EBS quality... They could probably teach me a thing-or-two.)

You're right! I was assuming that the new stuff would be similar to the old stuff...I shouldn't assume.
But as for country of manufacture, it is true that many other countries are capable of turning out quality gear (and I own a Warwick bass, so as you can see I'm not entirely against buying from other countries), but I'd like to see the Trace Elliot gear manufactured in the UK, because that's where Trace Elliot came from, or I would like to see it manufactured in the US--because that would mean it would be cheaper to buy for us Yanks...
Okay, so I emailed Peavey and this is what they said to me.

well going by the site, its new trace stuff. anyway, microbass has a thread about this and he said all will become clear tomorrow so im guessing theres a press conference at musik messe.
All that confirms for sure is that Peavey is handling distribution for Trace, not that they own it.
I'm really looking forward to hearing what Microbass has to share with us.
