Ummm, what the heck? Trace Elliot is back!?

I spoke to a friend today and he seems to think Peavey will be doing everything except designing them. Peavey seem to be finding it hard to shake off that "oh, its a peavey, must be boring and mediocre" type attitude. I believe this is half the reason they bought Crest power amps too. I feel that its an unfair attitude as the newer stuff which I've tried some of is great. My 410TVX is a great box in particular. I understand the new "Trace Elliot" gear will hark back quality wise to that of the Mark 5s and Series 6s. Im not questioning the integrity of my V4 or 400SMX but the I guess for some the stigma of Gibson stands.

Just so you know, the SMX came around a long time before Gibson. Gibson later reworked the SMX and it became the GP12X preamp.

Great! That means the 4x10 Trace elliot GP12 SMX Combo im getting is a Pre Gibson? Ace! Whats en better about is that my 2 idols use/Have used the same Pre amp, and they both sound sweet! :D

I'm very optimistic about this. I'm a big fan of Peavey and Trace....I think Peavey will do an excellent job with the Trace reputation.

I only wish Peavey could have taken over other product lines like SWR. Fender hasn't impressed me in the least with that buy-out.

I look forward to hearing from those of you who are able to try the new line of TE gear.

I agree, I think Peavey is smart enough NOT to screw up the Trace name. If they do, I lose respect for both names really..

i found a UK site that has the new trace amps and the prices in pounds of course. it says there going to be on sale in september. oh yeah and when i e-mailed trace elliot they said it'd just be on sale in the US by the end of the year if all goes to plan. heres the link to the site i found with the new trace heads, Link Removed

I'd say that there is cause for optimism. Peavey has done a good job, I think, of allowing Crest to continue to operate much as it did before the buyout and to maintain its sound reputation.

That's the same combo I picked up recently and it is great, not a bad word to say about it.

Trace will be onsale in the UK in September. :)
I think that's before the US - I actually can't remember, but I have spoke to the sales department at Trace, and I know that my local Sound Control have a deal going down with Trace :D :D

i really can't wait to try this stuff out!

Interesting... very interesting...

Though I never owned any Trace gear myself, another bassist I knew had a Trace stack was supremely awesome to play through. Oh man, I'm already gassin' for one of those new combos.
