I never got to see the band live, but in the videos he's either playing or is a gifted air bassist, because he looked to be hitting the right notes.

I probably should not judge him from only one performance - maybe he was having a bad night !

I'll add some newer bands, though, I appreciate the classics!

Tom Peloso from Modest Mouse. He played bluegrass before playing rock. His scales and grooves make the songs. The man lives in the pocket.

Michael Ivins from the Flaming Lips. I love visiting their early albums and seeing how far they have progressed as musicians.
Listen to "ego tripping at the gates of hell." Amazing and creative intro. Reminds me of an abstract version of "if you want me to stay" by Graham in the Stone days.

I can go on and on. I love all varities of music, but these two bassists stand out for me!

Been a big fan of Dennis Dunaway for decades. "Killer".

Saw Dunaway live 2 or 3 times in the 70's. Alice Cooper was a local band in Detroit at that time.

Mike Rutherford, excellent bass player and musician. Check out his playing on 'No Reply at All'

First time I've seen Rutherford play without a pick.
