Unofficial weight loss thread

i have found that only a single bad meal like that can set me back a week or two in weight loss progress. looking at the scale monday morning and realizing that i have to work really hard for the next two weeks to get back to where i was last week is not fun at all. this morning was the end of the two weeks of working back down. i'm back to 203, but i just can't seem to crack 200. i think this week is my week, though. i'm going to austin this weekend to relax in the heat. i shouldn't eat too badly.

It is sure enough going to be hot this weekend. Are you playing anywhere down here?

Yeah, one really bad meal can mess you up a lot. I'm pushing tons of water today. Tomorrow, I can go grocery shopping and buy some more healthy stuff. The fridge is pretty lean right now.

no, i'll be swimming in lake tyler. and doing whatever else people do in austin. probably watching all my friends get drunk and listening to some music.

Lake Tyler? Do you mean Lake Travis?

Come out north and get drunk with us! My band's playing Friday night in Jonestown, on the North Shore. Larry's Lone Star, on FM 1431. We start at 9:30. :)

Husband's band, Eight Ball Down, will be at Nuno's on Saturday, stating at 10 p.m. (6th Street) I prolly won't be there, though. No sitter.

Have fun!

Try switching to fruit

Now that the cake from my daughter's birthday is gone, I'm doing the fruit thing. The strawberries are beautiful this year, and cheap. Having some with green grapes for a snack. :)

I took every last one of my clothes that didn't fit or look good on me, and put them away in a storage box. They will *not* come out of that box until the things I can wear right now are too big.

Fully 2/3's of my closet is now in storage. I don't have anything cool to wear, so I had better get busy and work this weight off!

To share a story and a WARNING!

I was 72 kg 4 years ago and people started to make fun of me,that made me look really bad! I decided to lose weight and here it goes.

Before I started my death diet:I used to eat 2 breads in a day,4-5 meals, and lots of snacks.

The death diet:2 carrots and a diet biscuits at school, only one plate of whatever was cooked at home for dinner, thats all.

I lost 20 kg in a really short time but I became a skinny alien :p
Need I say,I got so sick,my immun system totally cracked,I wasn't able to keep my eyes open man.

As a result don't go on a diet without asking a doctor, you may die!A model died yesterday here because of that! Its damn important. Take care ;)

Yes, it is *very* important to eat right! When you eat so little, not only does your immune system stop working properly, but your metabolism does, too. Your brain says, "I am starving! I must slow the body's metabolism," and, while you do lose weight, as soon as you begin eating correctly, you gain it all back.

I am so glad you saw the problem before it affected you permanently.

Exercise is the key. Eat right, and get plenty of exercise. That's the way to be healthy and look good! :)

I went to the gym yesterday...I have made a commitment to myself to go at least three times a week. I know if I will do this, I will feel better, and my clothing will fit right, and I won't look like a pear onstage.

Exactly! Exercise is so important.I started going to gym 6 months ago,I was feeling far better,my clothing fit me so well, people started to complement my shoulders and chest

I'm not going to gym for 2 months now,I feel terrible, weak, even my self confidence is not as it used to be.I'm going to start this Monday!!! (What a lie!) :D

I did the same thing. I slacked off, didn't go, made excuses. Before very long, I was feeling depressed, sluggish, and my mind was not as sharp.

Now that I've been going to the gym again, I already feel better.

I'm looking forward to fall, too. When it is cooler, I can go walking or running outdoors. Near my work, there is a beautiful lakeside park with a great running track. Cool air, running along the lakeshore, seeing the trees and the sky and the deer herds...I can't wait for the cool weather to come!

Today's breakfast...A small slice of cinnamon bread, and fresh fruit (grapes and strawberries).

Lunch...Lean ham on whole grain bread with lettuce, and raw baby carrots.

So healthy, I just about can't stand it. LOL!

I'm quitting smoking, too. I'd started back up due to horrible events happening in the past year. But I am quitting again, now. Wearing a nic patch. Everytime I want a cig, I drink some orange juice, because it makes tobacco taste awful. And I sing. I can't sing well when I smoke, so singing is a big motivator. Hearing myself sound better keeps me from putting those little smoking coffin nails in my mouth!

Rock on!

dont think it was mentioned enough, but

FYI,

you need calories to burn calories. lack of intake only ruins metabolism. hence, breakfast is the MOST IMPORTANT MEAL of the day.

Yes! Even a light breakfast is better than none at all.

A yogurt and some fruit, or a light breakfast bread and some fruit, is a good little meal to jumpstart you in the morning.

I applaud you for your weight loss, however, you may want to look into the negative health effects of low carb diets.

I feel the negative health effects only show when people approach the diet the wrong way. Many people have a "Wow, meat/eggs has no carbs! i'll eat all the meat I want." mindset which is not healthy at all. I take periodic visits to the doctor to get a check up and currently i'm as healthy as I could be.
