unusual music you're into

Well if he's not a folk musician what genre would you classify his music as? He is definitely a folk musician first from what i've heard from him.

And I like Sun Ra too. I can see how some might consider him unusual.

I wouldn't call him a folk musician because I've never heard him sing a folk song. Maybe that's just me, but it seems to be a pretty good criteria. I don't think of folk music as anything with banjoes, acoustic guitars etc. If he played traditional folk songs it might be a different story. Obviously, all IMHO

dirty projectors (and deradoorian!) is one of my favorites

recently i started playing (and by default listening to) old-time southern/appalachian stuff on jug/bones/washboard

i like dream pop stuff like mew, beach house, panda bear, best coast.

people have really different ideas of what's "out-there" though. i think the only current mainstream music i have is radiohead or phoenix. but some people wouldn't call that mainstream. just depends.

Right on , she blew me away too when I first saw her. I had never seen a show like that before , she had such a strong influence on me after that I had to get into music/performance multi media .
