Regarding the making of the movie School of Rock.

The rock band Led Zeppelin are notoriously hesitant to allow their music to be licensed for commercial purposes. Knowing this, director Richard Linklater filmed a plea by actor Jack Black in front of 1,000 screaming fans, imploring the band to let the production use "Immigrant Song" in the movie. The plea worked and the filmed request is included on the Blu-ray. Aptly enough, Jack Black introduced the band's three surviving members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, when they were the recipients of the esteemed Kennedy Center Honor in the presence of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama (December 20, 2012).

Dead Kennedy’s drummer D.H. Peligro
(RIP: 10//28/22) was involved with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Following Dead Kennedys break up in December 1986, Peligro briefly joined Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988. The band was in need of a drummer after the departure of their original member Jack Irons. As a longtime friend of the band and former bandmate of Anthony Kiedis and Flea in their joke project Three Little Butt Hairs, Peligro happily stepped up to the plate. He performed with Red Hot Chili Peppers and contributed to the songwriting process for several tracks on their fourth album, Mother’s Milk. Peligro is also responsible for introducing Kiedis and Flea to then-teenager John Frusciante, who joined as their new guitarist shortly afterwards.

What makes the band so unique though is that it is composed entirely of robots, with each individual machine able to play either the drums, bass, electric guitar or other musical instruments. They were made entirely out of spare parts and recycled materials and were built using almost $300,000 raised on Kickstarter.

"Well, I really wanted to see it," Harrison said when asked why he paid for the film's production. Harrison put up about $4 million and the filmed grossed at least $20 million when it was released, so that turned out to be a pretty good investment.

In the same vein, Monty Python's Eric Idle got Harrison's backing and blessing to parody The Beatles too. If you haven't seen The Rutles they were a rock band that performed visual and aural pastiches and parodies of the Beatles. This fictional band was created by Eric Idle and Neil Innes for a sketch in Idle's mid-1970s BBC television. The Mockumentary is called All You Need is Cash. Very funny if you know The Beatles History.

Eric Idle later commented, regarding Harrison fronting the film money because he really wanted to see it - "Making for the most expensive cinema ticket in history."

Idle also talked about filming a Rutles sequence in which they recreated the photo shoot at the Abbey Road crossing, saying that fans were coming up requesting Beatles autographs from the distinctly non-Beatle Rutles actors ... while Harrison was standing right there, off to the side watching it all, and laughing his ass off.
