At the beginning of the "Stars" video by Hear N' Aid, the late Jimmy Bain is seen playing guitar. He's known as a bassist for Rainbow and Dio.

Neat factoid
That first album of theirs is by far and away my favorite of theirs. Was that in the 'Dirt' book? An ex of mine in HelL-A had a first edition copy of it, that i accidentally somehow managed to tear a page out of 
she was LIVID, and I actually had to track down another 1st ed copy on Flea-bay (not cheaply 
) to replace it. I remember it being a decent read, but my memory is so spotty (especially from those days) that I could now re-read it as a new book 
Yeah, I'm reading The Dirt now & it's pretty good. It seems more like a biography of Nikki with bits & pieces thrown in by the others.
Before Donnie Iris (& The Cruisers) had hits with Ah, Leah, Love Is Like A Rock, My Girl, and other songs, he was a member of The Jaggerz using his real name Dominic Ierace and had hits with The Rapper and I Call My Baby Candy. Donnie was also a member of the band Wild Cherry for one album (after they did Play That Funky Music). Wild Cherry band member Marc Avsec ended up with Donnie in The Cruisers.
Dave Bickler, the lead singer of the band Survivor, known for such songs as "Eye of the Tiger" from the 1980s was the singer in a string of award winning radio and television commercials for Bud Light.
The late guitarist/vocalist Jeff Healey was also an accomplished jazz trumpeter.
Mark Dinning of the tragedy hit song "Teen Angel" fame was the uncle of Dean Dinning, bass guitarist for Toad The Wet Sprocket.
Chubby Checker (born Ernest Evans) got his stage name thanks to Fats Domino (born Antoine Dominique Domino Jr.)
As a teenager in Philadelphia, Evans would entertain customers at his various jobs, including Fresh Farm Poultry in the Italian Market at the Produce Market, with songs and jokes. It was his boss at the Produce Market, Tony A., who gave Evans the nickname "Chubby". The store owner of Fresh Farm Poultry, Henry Colt, was so impressed by Ernest's performances for the customers that he, along with his colleague and friend Kal Mann, who worked as a songwriter for Cameo-Parkway Records arranged for young Chubby to do a private recording for American Bandstand host Dick Clark. It was at this recording session that Evans got his stage name from Clark's wife, who asked Evans what his name was. "Well", he replied, "my friends call me 'Chubby'". As he had just completed a Fats Domino impression, she smiled and said, "As in Checker?" That little play on words ('chubby' meaning 'fat', and 'checkers', like 'dominoes', being a game) got an instant laugh and stuck, and from then on, Evans would use the name Chubby Checker.
Chubby’s first national hit was this novelty song "The Class", in which he does his impressions of Fats Domino, The Coasters, Rickey Nelson, Cozy Cole, Fabian, Elvis, and The Chipmunks.

Talking about the old band The Nices guitarist, Davy O'List a cantankerous and grumpy guitarist in the young days, seemed to always be the one who "missed out" on big scheme of things. Just "missed" it. Partly due to his own adamant "views" of things.
He subbed for Syd Barret in Pink Floyd, offered, but said no thanks, subbed for Mick Abrahams in Jethro Tull, but said no thanks, and botched himself out of Roxy Music just prior they got signed and started to work on their first album.

"Although the group were impressed with his abilities, Manzanera lost out to David O'List, former guitarist with UK prog rock combo The Nice, although Roxy did offer him work as their roadie. However a few months later O'List quit the band abruptly after an onstage altercation with drummer Paul Thompson, during the band's audition for David Enthoven of [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].Manzanera was invited to the next rehearsal on the pretext of becoming their sound mixer but was asked to stand in on guitar. Unbeknownst to the rest of the group, he had secretly learned their entire repertoire and as a result he was immediately asked to become O'List's permanent replacement, joining on 14 February 1972."

If you didn't post that as a joke, if that's from The Onion, it's a joke, rocking and rolling was in use in black music way before Alan Freed used it.
"Rock and roll" was first used to describe the motion of ships.

"Rock and Roll" was also a euphemism for "bumping uglies" going back to the early 20th century.

Ross Bagdasarian, aka David Seville (creator of Alvin & the Chipmunks), co-wrote the song "Come on-a My House" with his cousin William Saroyan. It was recorded by Rosemary Clooney in 1951. Bagdasarian appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" as a piano player and composer.
Prior to creating Alvin & The Chipmunks, David Seville also did the song "Witch Doctor" in 1958 featuring a sped-up high-pitched vocal technique that Bagdasarian would later use in "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late", which would introduce both Alvin and the Chipmunks as a singing group. Bagdasarian would go on to create The Alvin Show, based on the Alvin and the Chipmunks group, where he voiced the fictional character David Seville.
Dave Loggins, who had a few hits including the song "Please Come To Boston" and has written many big hits for other acts, is a second cousin of Kenny Loggins.
