Unwatchable movies

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. After hearing the hype for years I rented it a few years ago and I got through less than half an hour and had to shut it off.

I mostly tend to avoid the ones that I know won't appeal to me. I've never seen Titanic and have no intentions to. (I'll save you 3 hours of your live. The ship sinks)

There's also a few that I was interested in and either suffered through or avoided because a certain actor/actress I dislike was in it. As you can guess I don't see a whole lot of movies!

Where's the gotcha?

You can't rent RHPS. It's not famous because it's a great movie. It's famous for the experience of seeing it w/ a bunch of people dressed like the characters and making a mess of the theater.

Also, the Blade movies were just aweful. I know alot of people loved these, but they were so bad. I mean... bad... I can't think of a single thing about them that makes me almost forgive them...

I gather nobody here has attempted to watch the Academy Award nominated Tree of Life? It defines 'unwatchable'. Or at least the fifteen minutes I suffered through did.

Burn After Reading-What a waste of a great cast! Should have been titled "Burn Before Watching!"

gimme a break! it was EXACTLY what the commercials were about. (oh wait, were there any?) either way, it was a good movie about people's various declines in careers. in a way, it brought "about schmidt" to a bizarre high.

Shes got a great voice. Her singing the 'Little Boxes' (the Weeds theme) is my ringtone!

Plan 9 From Outer Space. Tried a couple times. Wanted to see what the fuss was about and be able to "get it". Couldn't perceive of it as anything other than tripe.

+1 to newer disney animation. A bunch of formulated boring pablum. I love some of the Pixar stuff though. I thought Rattatouille was a great flick.

A Bug's Life was epically awesome, and Toy Story 1 & 2 were great when I was a kid...

bad teacher - could've just video'd cameron diaz smoking weed for 90 minutes since thats basicly the plot of the movie.

I know that some things can be cliche and unrealistic in movies, such as "the good guy always wins," but this was a case where predictable and cliche writing would have benefited the movie! It was just so hard to watch such an unlikeable protagonist (and I use the term "protagonist" loosely) and to not ever have karma catch up to her, even at the end of the movie.

On the plus side, Lucy Punch was absolutely yummy in that movie.

They certainly lost their touch.

I liked everything they did until Up, which was perfect! After that, I can't say I liked anything they did.

I Wall-E and let's forget about Cars. Toy Story 3 was good, but basically a rehash of the 2nd one, so ultimately a bit unnecessary.

I think it may have to do with Brad Bird having less to do directly with the pictures as I always regarded him as the genius behind all of the amazing movies I loved from Pixar.

Well some Pixar movies are better than others for sure. You are right about Brad Bird too. Probably why The Incredibles was my favorite of the bunch.

There are two that come to mind immediately as being some of the worst attempts at movie making in history...IMHO

"Cabin Fever" and "Wrong Turn"

I thought District 9 was really good. The analogy to apartheid was unmistakable, and the main character's transformation from an insipid bureaucrat to a desperate fugitive to a resistance fighter was quite good.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai?!? No, that movie is epic despite Peter Weir being miscast as Buckaroo instead of perfect Tommy.
