How the heck do you not like The Departed?

I know, right? That movie single-handedly completely reversed my hate of Leonardo Dicaprio.

Amazingly enough, I didn't pay a cent to see either of those wastes of film. Thank God, though it's nearly 2 hours of my life I can;t have back. In the case fo Glitter, I was deceived/tricked into seeing it at someone's house.

The Big Lebowski is the most overrated movie in history. I've seen it twice and it's mildly humorous at the very best.

Regarding The Departed, as all of Scorsese's movies are, since he's so in love with himself, it was 45 minutes too long. A LOT of that movie could have and should have been left on the editing room floor. As it is with all of his movies, except for MAYBE Raging Bull.

TBL seems incredibly light in the jokes department. I saw bits and pieces and fail to see why it has such a following.

As for The Departed, I think you're way off the mark. It's practically a shot-for-shot remake of Internal Affairs. The changes to the movie were minimal at best, so you can't fault him for it. Blame the original director.

And I think you're misreading him entirely. I don't get this "in love with himself" vibe AT ALL from him. But rather, he's so in love with movies in general that he'll put tons of references to older movies, use strange shots when he can, etc. That might give out the impression that he's in love with himself when in reality, he just likes playing with the toys that he uses to make movies. My 2 cents.

Very very true. I couldn't believe how lazy he got after a while, choosing parts like the one in Titanic that could've been played by just anybody, really. That's when I started losing respect for his abilities.

In The Departed, he played it as well as he could and visually, he was very convincing, but there's something about his boyish crackly voice that just throws me off and is jarring to the illusion that he was being a tough guy, in that movie. Sounds strange, but imagine the part Michael Clarke Duncan played in The Green Mile being instead played by the same person, but with a voice 3 octaves higher. It'd change the whole dynamic of the part.

He's one of those actors that I just can't abide. I feel the same for 90% of Jack Nicholson roles as well.

Yep, didn't really like any of those other than The Right Stuff. Innerspace, on the other hand, was fantastic.

Incorrect. The Aviator, though not a bad movie, was about an hour and a half to two hours two long.

That was certainly a dud. Give Tim Burton something original and he can make something awesome. Give him an adaptation of something already awesome, and it will be the suck.

I haven't managed to stay awake for more than 20 minutes of any Lord of the Rings film.

Boring. Probably not 'unwatchable,' just dull.

I hated the book too.

Also, any Oliver Stone movie; anything with Kevin Costner in it. If the two paths meet, you have hollow voice meets hollow plot.
