Update - Played my first show

Isn’t it FUN??? Congrats on a great first gig!

not to belabor the Squier thing, but the fact of the matter is that your Squier bass is a perfectly adequate bass for 99.999% of bassists, for 99.999% of gigs. Many really want to believe they need something more expensive - but they don’t. The list of players that would run into an issue trying to play to the best of their ability on a Squier that is set of properly is extremely short. Probably about as short as the list of players that are as good as Justin Chancellor.

I'll keep that in mind

Honestly this is the best advice you've been given in the thread. Get used to playing with ear protection early and use it regularly even in non-gig situations.

Between 14-18 I gigged, practiced, and rehearsed without ear-pro at which point I went to wearing it religiously, including casual situations like nightclubs and workshops. I'm past 30 now but those four or five year of hammering, plus general cumulative damage from earphones and loud working environments, have been enough to give me screaming tinnitus and varying levels of treble loss in both ears. It's rough and there have been a lot of points I considered giving up music to prevent it getting any worse. Unfortunately you won't notice the damage until it's already happened and is irreversible, so wear your plugs and be happy that you'll never have to experience it.

Was super nervous of course but all the practicing I did paid off. I made a few minor mistakes through out the set but I took you guys advice and played through the screw ups. No one seemed to notice. The crowd really seemed to like our music.

Awesome that you enjoyed your first time gigging. And now it's on to the next adventure!
