That is a very nice, solid wood
(no plywood) double bass.
It is 3/4 size, which is very common
and in pretty good shape.
Yes, take it to a very reputable
shop that specializes and are experts
at appraising double basses.
Pay the fee and get the appraisal in
writing. It is worth many thousands
of dollars. They can also assess
what work might need to be done,
that is, cracks repaired, seams
glued, sound post adjusted, etc.
They may or may not be able to
appraise the bows.

Again, that is not a cheap plywood
bass. It is a very nice instrument. 👍👍

Take some good photos and post them here. People will be able to quickly tell you if it's a bass that should be formally appraised or something that has a pretty standard market value.
Dealing with Sam 10 years ago was great and I bought my bass there 15 years ago. But it’s impossible to talk to someone there now. I’ve given up. I’ve been strung along for 2 months now, calling and then told some things and then ghosted. Emails never replied to. What happened?
