Usable Triple-Double J Build?

Dang dude, how annoying.

When I route control covers etc, I usually sandwich them between some thin sacrificial pieces to help the whole thing have more integrity and support when its routed. I'm pretty sure I saw it here somewhere first.

Not sure how it would interact with the "cool swirly pigmented epoxy" aspect, but I did think "hrrm?" at epoxy with no fiberglass, which should make a big difference in how it takes stresses. And then I shut up to see how things went, because I don't begin to claim to know everything. But it might be a thought if you take a second crack at it (heck, even just "not fiberglass" cloth (like cotton canvas) would give it some toughness.)

I was thinking about using the cloth this afternoon. But I wondered if it would simply crackle which wouldn't be much better...

If I catch it during the "semi-cured" phase where it is not sticky but still very bendy I can use a template and cut it with a sharp blade.

If all else fails I can rework this piece as a base and epoxy over it with control cavity shifted.

So, I corrected my paper template:

And struck gold on an old sheet of 3 ply pg material at the back on my shed!

So this time I will cut a pg with this and the color it later, when when I know it works...

I've never actually cut a pg before (can ya tell?) So this is another "first" I need to overcome...

I might go ahead and make a template after all. I have to break in my table router!

I only found flush trim bits in one diameter, I have multiple lengths, but they are all the common size which I think is 1/2"? Maybe 1/4"? Dunno they are in the shed...
