Dylan was, in person, live, the most dissapointing concert I have ever been to. What a neurotic genius. Anyway I still like his work and respect his incredible influence on music itself but......

Dylan had a great voice during the 60's when he was doing acoustic folk music, I don't know what happened to it. This looks like he may have overdubbed it in the studio but still, you can hear the wind in the mics though so maybe not.:
Vince does sound like him though, except Dylan was a lot better.
First time I saw Dylan, it was pretty damn amazing. The most recent time he closed out a night that followed both My Morning Jacket and Wilco (featuring Garth Hudson on horn and keys, respectively), and he was not so good, but that’s something most Dylan fans more or less expect to be the case, or else they wouldn’t be Dylan fans
.Vince Neil should be honored and flattered by the comparison, IMO.
I've only seen Dylan perform live once, and he was great. He brought Patti Smith as his main support, and she was in terrific form, so Dylan's clearly not afraid of being shown up. I guess I got lucky and caught him on one of his better nights.
Just like any other musician, you have to practice and keep your chops up.
Vocalist, at least the serious ones, like Beyonce, Michael Jackson(RIP), Celine Dion etc. all use vocal teachers usually weekly. Unfortunately as we age the vocal chords slowly diminish in quality. Although some older singers can stay in the game much, much longer by using vocal teacher's tricks and methods to compensate for the declining chords.
The first thing to go is a solid vibrato, then hitting those high notes that came so easy in your 20's.
Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett sang well into their 70's, Tony is 93 and still recording. Tony is still making duet albums.
Now when you hit a middle C on a piano, its sounds perfect regardless of age. Musicians actually have it easier that singers, all we gotta do is keep our chops up. Vocalists have to constantly rework, rearrange, change keys or sing an octave lower to achieve a great song once their chords start fading. They also have auto-tune and auto vibrato.
Many famous singers use background singers for harmonies and have one of the younger vocalist hit that 'no longer achievable high note that once came so easy every night. A good vocal instructor is $40 to $60/hour. a pro vocal teacher who works with big name stars charge anywhere fro $ 120 - $450 /hr.
Whew, glad I play bass and I've told numerous band, "I don't and can't sing back up" Well that's half way true but All I wanna do is hold down the rhythm section with a great drummer and maybe sing back up to some simple songs. BTW, I heard little to no Bob Dylan In the song. Dylan like Leonard Cohen wrote great song after great song.
Saw them both at different times and although their vocals were somewhat of a train wreck it was still a fun night remembering the huge catalog these guys wrote separately. Everyone plays their songs better than they do their own song. Lastly the worst and most disappointing vocalist with that God awful nasally singing is Axl Rose with AC/DC. I cringe every time I hear his lame voice. He makes Vince Neil sound like angels are singing beautifully.

Yes but a female version and speaking of aversion, I have never played an Axl Rose song and never will.
I refuse to give any support to one of the worst rock singers in the last 50 years
I'm not crazy about his voice either, very affected, I wonder what his natural voice would be like? I always liked Welcome to the Jungle and the other hit from that first album, they self destructed really fast. I liked their original drummer too.
