Vintage Yamaha Bass?

Hey so i am thinking about buying a used bass just to have as backup, and recently found this one, a Japanese P-bass, I love the look and everything about it. I think the price is also good at around 190 dollars with shipping but im not sure because I cant see the serial number anywhere. Do you think its some kind of copy or do you have any idea when this could have been built?
Also do you think its good idea to get this instead of an affinity used PBass at a little higher price?

Yes , buy the Yamaha . The Affinitys are good basses but not near as good as that Yamaha . You can just about make out the serial # on the back of the headstock . Looks like 001094 . The Japanese built Yamaha basses are about the same quality as American built Fenders .

This is a BB800, MIJ. Scroll bridge is beautiful. Nice score.

bridge isn't stock, knobs aren't stock, you may want to check that the electronics are stock or at least replaced w/ like pots. Also missing the cover for access to the truss rod. Also looks like the body has been stripped.

Anyway, $190 is a pretty good deal. The non-original bridge really bums me out though... Not sure I'd get it for that reason, alone.

As a reference, I paid $350 for mine w/ an old Yamaha case, but it's totally stock.

Those old MIJ yamaha BB's rock, they are well made solid instruments. The Bolt On's are excellent, argualbly as good or dare I say better sounding than the Neck Thru's.

Very sweet, saw that one for sale I think? What did you end up paying? I have two BB300 which are very similar but with out the upgrade bridge, pick guard and neck inlays., However I did hot rod both of mine, my first one I got now has a bad ass ll, SD 1/2lb pups, schaller tuners, and new electronics. It blows the doors of my 1980 MIA Fender P and most other MIA Ive played. The tone knocks my guitar player out!The second BB300 I bought I put parts off ebay on it wilkinson tuners, Mighty mite bridge, and SD performer pups. This bass blows me away as well and I did it all for $200, thats including the bass! The MIM Fender stuff doesnt even compare.
My next bass I want is a BB2000. I just got one for a friend of mine used at GC, I just set it up for him and I must say its one of the best basses Ive ever played for $400. They didnt know it was such a steal!

I was wondering if you still have those tuners..
