Virginia Bassists

I was just thinking about bumping the Virginia Bassists page the other day. Hello from further Southwest Virginia, Roanoke/Salem area!

Thanks Edward! There's sure seems to be a thriving (and exceptionally kind) music network in VA. Hope to connect sometime in the future! Have there been any sort of bass bashes previously in VA that you know of? Would be fun to get together for a little hang.

Yeah, the day and a half I spent in town to find an apartment, and grab lunch were awesome. Lots of great music, and local crafters of all sorts it seems. Needless to say I'm available for subbing, recording, lessons, etc.. and would love to find an upright bass player to play some trad. jazz with; I also play banjo, and sing.

I'm in Richmond playing with Rattlemouth, a world music quartet. We are playing Friday July 24 at Savory Grain restaurant and Saturday July 25 at Garden Grove Brewery this weekend in RVA. Also Saturday August 1 at Crossroads on Forest Hill Ave.

Come out and say hi. I am playing my Lakland Short scale Hollow body these days.

I must say that all the new breweries in Richmond has really opened up a lot of new music venues.

I'm in Charlottesville, mostly playing upright bass these days.

I'm in Staunton, not too awful far away.
I took a picture at Fretwells last week.

I don't play upright, but I do go in there for strings & the local luthier is walking distance.

So I did a search, and the last time anyone post on this was in 2005... I suppose it's time to start one.

Virginia Beach, for the last 6 years, and loving it.

I spent some time in Los Angeles & San Diego. I was in Hollywood 4 out of 5 nights.
I went back last year for the Whisky's 50th anniversary where Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, & Slash took the stage.

It's great & I love it there, but the cost of living is outrageous. I stay in Thai town there, because I lived in Thailand for 15 years & being in Thai town, just before East L.A., is like being in Thailand, even the heat level.
