VT Bass Mod (w/pics)

Ok so if I want to hook up the VT to my amps poweramp and bypass it's existing pre... do I just use a regular shielded instrument cable or do I need a speaker cable?

Shielded instrument cable from VT output ---to--- Poweramp input of your amp. That should disconnect the bass amp's preamp on most amps.
Do not use speaker cable, it is unshielded and will pick up lots of noise including 60hz and RF.

Instrument cable. You want the shielding because you are taking a low level signal and adding a whole lot of gain to it, so noise is bad.

Well I have to say that def. saved my @$$ last night. The input on my amp is jacked up, gotta rewire it or something. So going straight into the poweramp and bypassing the pre was a life-saver. Sounded just as good, had to boost the highs though.

Just got my VT Bass back from Mike (again)... super fast turnaround!!! This time I had him install the phantom power option. I'll be giving it a whirl at church tomorrow. THANKS MIKE. One less thing to plug in and/or trip over on stage.

used my VT at church today and tried out my new phantom power mod. LOVE IT. it's nice to have one less thing to plug in...

i would love the single space rackmount w/an amp inside and a built in tuner. the all-in-one solution for me.

Question: I don't know exactly what the setup is, but would be possible to use any of the other character pedals inside a programmable tech 21 deluxe model? IOW, somehow take the circuit from a Blonde or Leeds and use that as the tone generator, while still using all the programmable bits/di/loop etc from the VT Deluxe. I prefer the Blonde and don't know if that is ever going to get the VT deluxe treatment. Also, how about being able to shut off the speaker sim, as they are now doing with the new stuff?

That ability is not going to be available right now with this release of the Deluxe or the original VT Bass. Way on down the road.....who knows?
