Remember, I was one of 70s kids going to Bill Graham's Filmore East (Google it) to see BB King, Albert King and a host of popular blues men.
I also remember many jam sessions playing endless 12 bar progressions.
No more glitz like the last band, however there will be more of an opportunity to contribute and much more gigging & $s.
A good blues band can stay booked all year and get the folks in the clubs that I know.

Your mention of BB King, Albert Lee, et al, reminded me of a special moment in my teens when I had the pleasure of seeing Muddy Waters in concert. Man he was electric! After an intense audience-revving intro by the MC, he appeared out of the darkness in a spot light, immaculately dressed in a powder blue suit. And then we heard that low, throaty first note… He held all of us in the palm of his hand for the entire 90 minute concert (with encore). I’ve seen other great bluesmen over the years (I used to live near a famous blues club), but that show still gives me goose bumps whenever I think of it.
Anyway, all the best to you with these guys. I trust you’ll keep us posted on how things go.

The last 3 years with each band giving me some level of new experience which should make me ready to perform with a band with good bookings.
I am looking forward to returning to the bars and clubs performing again.
I have had a 2 month break in between bands. I was very fortunate to find this opportunity, well it was networking really. They approached me, this opening was not advertised.
Good luck blue! Everyone's ideal is different.
I'm in what might be the ideal for me, although you might hate it: loud and heavy, multiple complex time signatures and feel changes per song, wacky nonsensical lyrics, crazy stage demeanor, and maybe most important... Relaxed, responsible, intelligent, talented and open-minded bandmates who care about the music but not about making money. That's pretty close to as good as it gets for me.
