Are you running these cabs in mono or stereo?

he's talking about the layers. you know how a current bass has the following 5 piece sandwich

top facing
accent veneer
core
accent veneer
back facing.

the 9 piece bodies have two extra contrasting veneer layers between the core and facings on each side. so it's:

facing
veneer
veneer
veneer
core
veneer
veneer
veneer
back.

I remember seeing a cpl of those...got confused what he was talking about when I counted the 9 layers on the headstock

That's exactly right. I've done a fair bit of work to bring this bass back to life... one of the previous owners decided to hack job some repairs on it, but I've got it about as straight as it will get without sending the bass back to paul.

-All cracks in the facings have been filled
-Original finish has been buffed and shined up
-Finish crack on the back of the headstock has been touched up
-New connectors inside the preamp for the outputs - XLR now functions properly
-New knob stud markers (half the old ones were missing)
-Broken nut has been put back together and reseated
-Control cavity cover has been shielded once again.
-Setup

I'm pretty happy with the results. This bass was not taken care of for a portion of it's life, and it deserved to be awesome once again.

Yeah I remember seeing it a few years ago, it had a busted pickup case then. That bass has come a long way and on the right path.

It always concerns me when a high end bass sells and resells so quickly. It *could* be fine, but my experience is that most of the really good ones stick where they land...

Out of curiosity, I wrote to the guy selling the 5 string Mk2 on Ebay asking about the errors in the last listing, and why it had been put up for sale and taken down a number of times, here's what he said:

"I thought it was flame walnut, but it's actually Brazilian Schedua. Also, I was undecided as to whether to sell it or not because it's not an easy bass to come by. I've decided to sell it now because of my financial situation."
