Hello ! I'm curious about you guys ! What kind of strings do you use in your Wals ?
I use Elixir Stainless 045/100. It has a little bit high tension that I prefer. Not so much brights also !

Just put a set of EB Cobalts on the MKIII 5'er....Wow!
Funkmasters on the Geddy

My standard has always been 45-105 GHS Boomers and I like them, plus they have the slick red silk at the ends, but I'm in the process of trying out a lot of different sets. I have EB Hybrids on it now and I don't love them, the next set I'm going to try are DR Hi-Beams, then Richard Cocco's after that.
R.Cocco's 45-105 on everything. I was using stainless forever, but now switching to nickels.
The 5 is a different beast and I'm still experimenting with B strings. Probably try taper ones next.

I decide to try out some flats on my fretless Mk I Wal. I've tried a set of gently used TI's on that i got in classifieds and didn't think too highly of it - actually sounded better on a fretted P.
Anyways I switched it out with some Labella black nylon tapewound strings and so far I'm liking the tone I'm getting. Been actually playing/practicing a bit more with my fretless too as of late
Mind you my skills aren't up to par with what it should be, but ill try to get some sound samples up one day using the handy dandy iPhone

I tried Cocco's in the past, but they are not so easy to find in my Area !
I usually order strings online at http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/. Their prices are good and they have frequent sales on strings, plus they offer free shipping to the US and Canada, which wouldn't help you but they have a large variety of strings including R. Cocco's.
How do you guys feel about the .30s?
I'm still trying to get closer to that PW tone...
I asked Paul to send me the new one with this set...

I'm using rotosound PSD99's on my Wal.
I originally had a rickenbacker shadow that had a similar set of exposed core rotos that were out of production... so I put the PSD99's strings on my '65 Jazz and I was blown away. Articulate, big and fat sounding bottom end, very clear and clean sounding. I have a Ric with Thomastik Infeld 43-89's and they're the polar opposite to the PSDs. Also great strings but for different things.
I held back on putting the PSD99's on my Wal because I thought they'd be too bright for the Wal, but I'm really digging those bright, deep strings on the Wal instead of a more midrangey, muffled sounding string like the Thomastiks.

Same here. Bass NW used to carry them, but stopped. Since then I just buy a bundle at a time from Bass Specialties in PA. I always get them in 2-days with free shipping, and they're the best price and most consistant service.
I'm using Spector nickels now. they have a taper on the e string only which works well for the narrow bridge slot on my bass.
