Wal Bass Club.

It was a great price!! Especially being found in the US market IN A STORE?!? Makes you wonder though - it's been discussed on another thread, but whatever the previous owner got for the bass must've been chump change! Never dealt with bassnw, so not sure if it was a trade in, consignment, etc. Its rare too see a Wal available in US store just coz the market isn't flooded with them and it isn't hard to sell one on your own :/ guess the previous owner needed it out bad!!!

Oh well hope someone here got it tooo!!

sadly, no... I was sitting in Charlotte airport waiting on a flight home. I said to myself "self, if it's there tomorrow and i still think its a good idea after sleeping on it, I'll do it". knowing that there was. 95% chance it would be gone. hope somebody here got it!

Of course that thinking is always a mistake :p
I did the same thing over a Wal at Bass NW. The last time I saw one in there was probably 9 yrs ago, it was a blue 5. I was in buying strings and I saw it there for about 1800 bucks (remember, this was before the sudden insane price jump). Anyway, I said the same thing to myself since I was leaving the next day for a week to visit my folks; "ooh I'll buy it when I get back". It was gone the next day, and by the next month Wals jump 1000-1500.

But I'll bet it was a consignment as nearly all of used basses there are. But their consignment fee is insane(20%?), I remember asking once. Yeah, the real owner could have made way more asking 5k+ and not dealing with consignment fee, and they could have sold it just as as fast. Oh well, somone got a good deal on a Geddy. But isn't W4040 the same bass from ebay a year ago?

Gotta ask...How much was it selling for?
Since the link is dead and I missed it yesterday.

Thanks,
Rob

Nope the black one from eBay a year ago is sitting in my house :D
The seller and I went outside eBay and sadly enough was not negotiated at that price.

Not that one.:D Yours has the black headstock, but clear back of neck, and LED's.

The other one on ebay was from the Southern States, and was all black like mine, but gold hardware. I keep thinking it was the same serial (I used to have pics saved, but are gone). The rumor was the ebay bass was owned by Troy of Mastodon. I don't know how true that is.

That's the one with l.e.d's Jose? (Red if I remember)

Any "new" news? Lol

Yup!! Just LEDs on the sides though.

Still waiting, but soon!!... It's ok though, got other things keeping me busy :/

Cool. Didnt like one on EvilBay?

Evilbay is the older paddle style headstock. Bassdirect is the regular style Mk I style, plus it seems n in better condition, no?

Mike congrats on the neck!!! Sure beats £1900 and a 19 month wait!!!!

There was another Custom MkI neck on ebayuk a week or so ago, but it was 1k pounds.
I really didn't want to get a neck now, because it just blew half my Mesa savings for that Strategy head. But I couldn't deny it was the best neck deal I've seen in a long while, and I won't afford another Wal for a fretless. This way I can put my white one back into fretless use like it originally was.

in what may be the most exciting development in the wal club since the day I removed my pickguard, I ordered a set of custom gauge d'addario xl's from bass strings online.

I wanted to get a balanced tension set but I didn't like the gauges in the standard balanced tension packages that d'addario offers today. they're ether too heavy or too light. knowing that my bass doesn't like anything to fit in it's bridge bigger than a .100 E string I ordered a set consisting of .100-.070-.055-.040.

now that you've picked your jaw up off the floor from this revelation, I'll hit you with the killer. $13 and change shipped!

this is the only thing I really dislike about my wal. the stupid older bridge design that won't accommodate a normal sized E string.

I have the same problem with my old 86 MKI, but I do not care about the E string ball jumping out of the bridge ! Balanced tension D'addario strings are low tension ones, if you like low tension strings this is a great choice.
