Yes guys, After read all posts about the differences between Pro II and IIE , it is easy to saw that some of you have the same doubts about their aesthetic differences ! I still did not receive the bass and I have never ever seen one in person to answer my doubts ! Many thanks

Yeah I wouldn't trust the descriptions that Bass Direct posts any longer.

My bass was listed as having an ebony neck, when it in fact has a rosewood fretboard. It was also listed as in pristine condition and confirmed by them when I spoke with them on the phone, the body and neck are pristine but there was some damage to the inlays, and one of the knobs was loose. They insisted that the bass was inspected and the controls/electronics were confirmed as working perfectly. They also failed to mention that it was refinished and had other work done to it, that's kind of a big thing to omit.

Another thing that really bothers me is that in speaking with them on the phone, he'd told me that the bass was owned by a collector who didn't play bass and that it was essentially in the same condition it was when first bought, which explained it's condition. I'd posted a picture on facebook and came into contact with the previous owner who was selling it through Bass Direct who is a friend of the guy at Bass direct, so not only is he a player, but considering he's a friend of theirs, all of the bass's history should have been very accessible.

So yeah as much as I love the bass, their asking price was not so far off the cost of a new bass, I would have liked to know everything about it upfront to make an educated decision. I'd contacted them about the conflicting description of the neck wood and he'd said that's why they post so many good pictures, so you know what you're getting. That's pretty infuriating.

Anyways, it may be in poor taste to speak ill of them publicly like this, but it's a big purchase and a lot of us wait years before being able to buy one, so when a merchant isn't 100% upfront about the description and offers no resolution, I'd rather tarnish my reputation by speaking out than allow people to go into a transaction unaware.

XLR output was an add on option with the Pro's and not standard. My Pro IIe does not have an XLR out. :atoz:

I asked Paul before if he still had the hardware for it to add, but alas does not exist anymore.

PJ, when you get Pro, please do post 'gut' pictures....haven't really seen gut pictures of passive Pro's

Not poor at all......they've been asking ridiculous amounts for Wals as of late, so its good to to know to be wary with there description as far as condition goes.

About a year ago, that other dealer in UK, Bassgear, had a 5 string that originally had the 1st owners name on the headstock as Pete did that for folks. The headstock was refinished with the name removed and the price jacked up two hundred quid to reflect from the work done. And it sold faster that way! :eyebrow: No, they didn't mention it either.

I agree with you. Wals are not inexpensive basses, full honest disclosure should made on it, heck full disclosure should be made on anything regardless of it's value, and come on... How can they not mention that it was refinished.

Ultimately I'm glad that you like what you got, however it would of been nice sans the surprises.

To buy used basses without see them in person is a Game. The internet makes it looks like a simple thing but it isn't. You need to ask all the things you want to know , do not expect that the seller will tell you all the bass odds , he'll keep your attention in the good things that the bass has and not the bad ones. Instruments like Wals are very rare and desirable , and when we find a Wal that catch our eyes we just want it and we do not care about a lot of things ! This is dangerous , our anxiety to have them could kill us and make us do a bad deal some times. Also, when we receive our "new used Wal" we are so excited that we prefer to keep the bass even it did not match what we are expecting than return it. This is the last stage of W.M.D. ( WAL MANIA DISEASE ) ! It's better to have a bad Wal than no Wals !

Has anybody here ever had to replace a nut on their wal? I have tried numerous adjustments to the truss rod and saddle height and I am getting buzz on my open E and D strings. I suppose it could be something else but I had this problem with a bass when I was younger and the nut had just been worn down and the strings were basically sitting right on the frets. Curious if anybody has ever had theirs replaced
