I gotta ask-is saving 1.5 lbs, being a bit more ergonomic but losing the insanely cool paddle headstock really worth the upcharge for a Mk3 over a 1 or 2?

My 2015 Mk3 is under 9lbs, 8.65 to be
exact. I'm really suprised your Mk1 is 10.25 lbs....the Mk3 5 string I first ordered is going to be the same as your Mk1, but I really specified to Paul to keep it low, so you should let Paul know a target if its imprtant to you. There is absolutely no neck dive on the Mk3, the bass even stays balanced on my lap when let go with both hands!
Well the Mk3 and Mk2's are both technically only £200 more and I already have a Mk1, so if I'm in the mood for the lovely paddle headstock I will play it. I also placed my order over two price hikes ago so the savings at this point is roughly £400 all together. Like I said before, I love my Mk1 but I realized that buying another of the exact same model didn't make much sense. I also really don't want a Mk2 so that knocks it out of the running entirely and leaves me with just the Mk3. To be honest, I want a reason for them to vie for my attention and being so vastly different in terms of looks is a major plus.
I was mostly asking in general, but in your spot it makes sense. I thought it was quite a bit more, especially when specifying the weight.
No up charge for specifying the weight or neck shape. I've conversed with Paul at length about both of those things. It's all the other stuff I'm having put on it, especially the gloss paint job with color matched headstock, that is super expensive.

OMG! im broke and live in SwedenSo I'm toying with the idea of letting one of my fretless Wals go (excluding the Pro I since its no longer fretless). I'll take the Black Mk1 Geddy is you're not using it then?With Paul's builds it will be the same profile unless you specify something different...he's mega-consistant about that.
The Mk3 4 string is fantastic in regards to feel and balance. It's just a shame I don't get to play my 4 string much onstage since my current band is predominately 5 string music, but when the planets align and the bandleader makes one set I can do on 4 string, that Mk3 is pure bliss!

Hey guys! I need a little help. The bass jack on my Mk2 is crackling when my cord moves. It's not noticeable when I'm playing.(probably because of the volume I'm playing) 
But it is noticeable when I'm not.
Any DIY advice or videos would be GREATLY appreciated.

One really nice thing about the Wal jacks is that unlike the typical barrel jack, the contacts inside are actually open (like a regular 1/4" phone jack) so you can open the control cavity and easily use contact cleaner on the contacts, or even bend them a little bit if they have gotten loose. Just take off the control cover, plug in a cord, and wiggle it around a bit to see if you can tell whether it's just oxidation or an actual loose contact.

It may not need contact cleaner--I'd try just bending the contacts in a little first.
What I've noticed about the Wal jacks: seems the models older than 2000 have just natural/unplated brass jacks that get tarbished, and if you dont play them regularly, then they require more cleanings or they get crackly.
The later basses seem to have plated jacks that dont get tarnished the same way.
I use a Q-Tip soaked in Deoxit and scrub em out.

all great advice, but one thing i'd add too is make sure its not your cable. if you have an other bass and it does the same thing, replace the cable. if there is no noise on the other bass, proceed with cleaning/fixing the instrument jack.

You might want to fill out your location incase someone wants to do a local deal, or at least within a country.
5 strings are in the Mk2 and Mk3 bodystyles. Mk1 only came in 4 string.
Who's bass did you try?
I'd rather not say who, kinda famous, don't want to say anything for privacy reasons. I'm in Vancouver BC CANADA. Mk2 then, Mk3 top horn seems too long, but if the price is right... Maybe it'll be different when I play it.
