that's the only vid i made. it's just a walkthrough how to fix loose instrument jack by adding washers. from what i found this would benefit with Wals that have a 'tight' electronic compartment where the jack is in VERY close proximity of the tone knob closest to it.

Yup, my only gripe with Wal is the recessed jack socket, forcing us to use straight jacks. I wish I could use angled. I've constantly been scouring ebay to see if anyone comes out with a long reach angle jack.

I have a lot of gear. Bass and guitars, Amps... But this bass took me Geddy land. I can't put it down. I love the handwriting on the back plate. So cool. I was lucky and got this for next to nothing. My 68 Tele bass was my #1 and played it every show. This has taken the spot. I guess from what from what I read the Red and Black are very desirable. I love this baby.

hello fellow WAL-nuts,
maybe one of you with an older MKI (around 83) could help me out.
i want to replace the 4u7 electrolytics in my 83, but it has the older electronics with the on/off switch and only 2 trimpots, and there are bipolar caps in there,
which naturally have no plus/minus designation. so could somebody look into the electronics compartment and have a look / provide me with a pic pretty please ?
i need to know the orientation of the electrolytics if the bipolars were not standard at that time
here is a pic of my PCB, which shows the caps in question.

here's one i took awhile ago. hope it helps.

thanks kulit, but your PCB is the newer (2nd) generation. different layout. the ones like i have with the on/off switch have not been used for a long time.
mine also does not have the extra trimpots for bass cut for each pickup.

ah, thanks. that one has tantal caps in there, which are also polarized, but the polarity can´t be seen on the pics. the second pic in the link you posted, however, shows the polarity at least for one of the caps:

Whoa!...is that Australian Lacewood facings?
I had one just like it (sold it locally to a friend).....it was made in '82 i believe.
