Cool, I was thinking of doing all 7 screws at about 1 1/4" so I might and report back when I get parts. Looks like a flat top screw on new Wal's too. That will make it easier since the dome top are usually hard to come across in hardware stores.
They changed to flat top screws a long time ago (around '90?).
***BUT*** you need to measure what your depth will be with your proposed screw length, so you don't accidentally drill thru the body. Especially for those two bridge screws closest to the pickup.
30mm is closer to 1-3/16"
10-4. yeah I'm going to go to the GOOD hardware store (ace or true value) for screws and not a big box store. Big box store screw selection is terrible for small projects.
Same bridge. Although he did widen the string slot so we no longer have to pinch down a 105 or 110 E string anymore to fit that slot.
Everything else the same.

But you're probably asking about that dimple in the bridge frame that the intonation screw rides in. Right?
It's still there.
Note that the original screws on the Wal are Pozidriv screws (hence the extra little “x” in the screwhead), not your run of the mill Philips head screws. Not sure your local hardware store will carry them, but you can definitely find them online.

Also, I'm thinking of disassembling the bridge to clean it, as it's very grimy and such. Anything to know other than be very careful?

....that was one of the things i meant to do, but didn't get a chance to do when i had it. Probably should've done that when the neck was off and/or when the preamp was sent to Paul...... I don't recall it having the saddle buzz issue, but if you have felt handy, it wouldnt hurt to add since you'll already have it off.Hey, it's totally not an issue, I still absolutely love this bass regardless. It's one of the reasons I bought brand new, I prefer clean items. This bridge doesn't have the saddle buzz issue, thankfully. I'd like to bring it back to it's former clean status, however. What would be a good cleaning solution to use on it?

I use glass cleaner, some cotton swabs, and a soft towel to buff the shiny items.

I wouldnt cover that beautiful wood. But, that might be a candidate for a refinish. Maybe i should give George a call. I live 40min from FBass. Im not sure if they would do something like that.
It’s amazing to see the repeat client base Paul has. You would think one ultimate instrument would be enough? lol. But just like with Accugroove the one cabinet may not be the last one you buy from them. So many different flavors to choose! Why not try them all?
