Hi, another question for you guys. Do you have your Wals insured? I've been thinking about this, getting a policy from a specialist company for instruments. It'd be awful to lose one somehow and be unable to get a replacement. What would be a good recourse?
Anyone have some good straight DI clips with the Wal?
I've only found one, would love to hear some with the knobs open. Also clips of different tones you can get with fiddling.

I was looking at the Facebook group and saw this guy had a 1986 4 string Mk2 with the 4-in-line style headstock.
It seems really early for a 4 string Mk2, anyone know when they were placed in the regular production line? The earliest catalogue with the 4 string Mk2s I found was in October 1990.

the first few 5 stringers were made in 85, I had a Feb 86 5 string.
So naturally the Mk2 4 strings were appearing in 86. I have pics saved of an 86 black poly Mk2 4 string. still has an older style 2-trim preamp. (the 4-trim preamp came out about Aug/Sept 86)
This old-azz webpage is very incomplete, was from around 2001-2005. But have you ever gotten to see the first registry someone started. Kinda gives a look at timeframes of things...

Still as with today. There isn't a lot of them. The percentage still compounds. you still don't see a lot of Mk2 4's and Mk3 4's. But comparatively you find tons of Mk1's and tons of Mk2 5's.

No, that’s not a standard model. It’s a custom order copy of a custom order that Jonas Hellborg got Wal to make - basically the upper half of a double necked bass.

It was that early, huh? The trans red? I always though he had that one made around the Presto/RTB era.
If I heard right, he bought it used, and it was about 2yrs old at that point.
That’s a cool list to look through. Thanks, Caca. Really does show how little they produce. Mine is on there and it does say a rosewood fretboard. I’ve gotten mixed reviews on this as bass direct listed it as ebony. I’ve always thought it was rosewood anyway. Not sure how seriously to take this source though.
