@Toolmybass got a quote for something similar..... I mentioned this in your thread earlier, but it would be more cost effective to remove the pickups from the bass and ship it in a USPS flat rate box....so instead if spending $350 for shipping...its cost about $35-40

As the other guys mentioned, remove the pickups and ship them.
But I thought I saw in your past thread that the serial number ends in something like 96 97 or 98 which is ths year it was made, so ship Paul the preamp along with the pickups as its old enough to need new capacitors.
I played one of these once in Japan. It was the nicest Wal I’ve ever heard. Very much a Wal, just more “open” sounding.
I know this may sound crazy to some... but I am going to relist my Birdseye six string. I just can’t get comfortable with the weight (11.3 lbs) no matter how hard I try. I always want to come back to my Rob Burns prototype six string because it Feels “right” at 10 lbs.

@Caca de Kick Yep, it's W25896. I was curious if the last two digits represented the build year because I was playing a custom Surine Affinity in '96 though. I remember ordering the WAL closer to 1999. @LowEndHum Appreciate it. Paul already sent instructions.
The WAL sounds great but I wanted to shore up the aesthetics and not be out $2k+. To me, half of the worth of a WAL is electronics and the other craftsmanship. I can't say one is more valuable than the other. I would've posted here at "WAL Bass Club", but I can't tell difference posting here or on "GENERAL FORUMS>BASS GUITAR[BG].

the Mk3 serial numbers is the final completion date. W25896 in the Pete era translated to 25th of August 1996. (unless Pete made a mistake when writing by hand)

Dating system makes sense logically. I ordered it from a bass shop (Bass World) in Louisville KY. Long out of business. I guess it was built in '96 and they just sourced it? I didn't order straight from Wal— internet was practically brand new back then. I was paranoid about losing the pamphlet back then too, wrote on the shield. pfft. How do join groups/clubs here anyway?
My red mk1 came from the same place, Bass world in Louisville for $1,989... Back in the early 90s.

@BWorm cool, no way! Wow, what a trip (literally and figuratively). I don't remember the exact total. I just remember taking a road trip (8hrs), seeing and playing a Wal for the first time, and trading in my custom 6-string Surine for a downpayment a month later! I do remember it was over a 6mo wait.
I think I lost money on that deal actually. Surine's aren't cheap. The Wal was def below $2500. Lucked out.

Just testing the waters to see if there's any Wal Club or any Wal owners for that matter who may be interested in a bass with a butterfly on the headstock (aka Fodera)? I've got a couple great ones right now for possible trade and I'm always interested in Wal 4 or 5 string basses (fretted or fretless). I've got a wicked Alleva Coppolo KBP4 4 string P Bass too. And an Alembic Brown Bass 4 string (Stanley Clarke) 30.75 Scale. Start a conversation with me if interested.
Just a follow up to this post...
The Alembic is gone, so that’s no longer a trade option. I still the AC KBP4 which is deadly P and Jimmy’s 16th bass ever made and is in the classifieds. I have very cool Maple topped Monarch Deluxe 4 that is also listed. It’s Victor Wooten latest specs with the EMG pickups. I’ve realized that I don’t like Seymour Duncan pickups in a Fodera either the single or dual coils. The EMG P/J and Mike Pope Preamp is much better. And the only setup this far that sounds good with both pickups balanced.
Alright, bracing for a serious winter storm where I’m from. Is it all hype? We’ll find out soon enough! I’ve got two basses on their way to me!
