Anybody have an idea how much it'd cost to remold these humbuckers at High Wycombe?

What do you mean by "remold"?
I do have a quote from Paul for a complete rebuild on a pair of 4 string pups.
Best thing would to email the shop and ask. But I would guess around $550

My red mk1 came from the same place, Bass world in Louisville for $1,989... Back in the early 90s.

Is that the one in your profile pic? I played one just like that at Bass World around that same time period--drove about 4 hours for a chance to try a Wal for the first time!

I was just on BassChat's Wal appreciation thread and noticed one of the latest posts features a 4 string birdseye maple Mk2 with a maple fretboard! What I would do to obtain that bass... ($$$) It even has an Mk3 neck joint! Amazing.

I've only seen two examples... this one, and one with a red body that so far the only evidence has been a crummy low-res picture that looks like it was taken with an instant pot instead of a real camera.

There were quite a few maple fingerboard basses made in the late 90s/early 2000s. As special orders. Some members back on the old Yahoo group had some. As I understand Paul won’t do maple boards.

@Toolmybass Thanks for picking this up! I dunno, you tell me: Paul emailed back, ". . . haven’t seen any quite like that before [...] you could remove the pickups and send them back to us – we could possibly re-mould them".

Man, I'd LOVE to see the process from start to finish. Wonder what metal alloy(s) they use? . . ceramic/alnico mags? . . wire gauge? . . I got questions man HA! Anyway, my bass sounds great, just want to restore the ABS to it's former self (but I dig the finger-wear marks in mine. Hard won). By "complete rebuild" you mean like new coils, poles, preamp stuff too? What exactly is a complete rebuild. If I'm gonna be Wal-Less for x-amount of time, might as well have older components replaced or checked out. Dunno. It's about economics.

That's a good question. I never thought about that. Was super honored by that whole thing. Such a long time ago! They're onto other pedals now that look interesting.
