Hi all, fellow Wal owner and long time lurker A truly great community. Just thought I'd post a question raised on Wal fb fanpage. Anyone tried re-anodizing the knobs? I have a 1999 mk2 5-string fretless from new and some of the tone knobs are faded to bare aluminium due to heavy usage. I imagine the main problem would be keeping the markings and numbers. Any experience on this?

Don't know where you're location is, but I'd start looking up facilities that do anodizing. like this: Midwestern Anodizing - Aluminum Anodizing

The numbers are painted on after the anodizing, not natural, you dab in the white paint and almost immediately wipe off only the upper surface leaving the paint in the engraved characters.

Thanks, just what I was thinking BTW, could I get a number on the list? It's a classic walnut faced lined fretless, W4015, signed by Pete in June 1999. and has been a pride and joy ever since.

There are some brand new beautiful Wals available at Ikebe Gakki shop in Japan, fresh builds from Paul. But prices are pretty high as you would expect in Japan.

So as crazy as the prices seemed for those new Wals at Ikebe in Japan, the two standard models have already sold! Yowzers!!!!
