Wal Bass Club.

Hey guys,

As of tomorrow I should be in the club. I bought the 4 string MKI that was recently in the TB classifieds. Was that by chance anyone's in the club? Link here:

I'm looking forward to taking some time and getting to know her. I was having a hard time getting my head wrapped around the electronics but a bunch of you guys have been helping me with that....thank you for that.

How are you liking your new Wal??? Congrats too btw!! Please post some pics!!!

Thanks a lot for the number...

I like the Wal a lot! It's very comfortable to play, although I'm not so fond of the V shape of the neck. But the sound is phantastic and the variety of tones you can get is simply mind blowing. And although I'm a member of the K.I.S.S. crowd, I love this preamp! It's definitely the most flexible tone shaping circuitry I've found in a bass, yet it's rather easy to understand and of very elegant simplicity. Very simple to operate, thus extremely powerful.

And on top of all that, this Wal is the most beautiful instrument of my collection!

Love it!

Thanks for the kind words everybody

Indeed those are better pics! The black and gold for hardware looks hot!!! Typically I'm not a gold hardware type of guy, but that combo really works well for your bass!!

I've never been a fan of gold hardware myself, and if you'd told me I'd own a "red bass with a black neck and gold hardware" I'd have told you're crazy! But looking at many pics of different Wals, the black'n'gold colour scheme grew on me quite a bit. And when this baby popped up in the classifieds I fell in love head over heels. It's so beautiful in person, pictures really don't do it justice.

But back to the Wal sound: I just had an hour of quality time with my Wal, iPad, AmpliTube, headphones and some RHCP tunes. Amazing how easily you can get a growly yet full sound from this bass! Now I wonder even more how the pickup height and pole pieces affect the overall sound.

Yes very nice indeed. I almost pulled the trigger on that one myself but just wasn't quite ready.

I got mine yesterday and am exploring the tones. These basses are unbelievably responsive to technique/attack. What I'm finding really cool is this is the first bass I've had that I can get to sound like I'm playing with a pick fingerstyle! And that's without the pick attack engaged.

I have the bridge favored to about 60%, tone on 8 (pulled up) and the neck tone at 10 (pulled up). Super aggressive. Sounds like I'm rattling chains but it actually does it in a pretty pleasing way without being overly harsh. Honeymoon on.

Hey husky, care for a number?

Just a sneak peak of my new acquirement until i get a chance to play with her a little more! Sealed my fate into working the next couple Saturdays for a good couple of weeks. A little different with the extra string, but Burr maple facings.....looks tastey!

Thanks! Indeed does make four now. The wood combo on this on is pretty interesting too - burr maple facing with indian ebony fingerboard. Tried it out briefly this morning prior to getting to work and the indian ebony board feels alot different then the other ones I have.

Beautiful! Personally, my favorites of the Wals I've owned all had ebony boards--it seems to broaden the tone a bit in a way that I really like, plus it feels better than rosewood to me.
