There is a big difference in mass between a 5 string Mk2 and the 4 string of same. I also have two of the new era Mk2 4's, one with a regular headstock and one with a Mk3 headstock. Both basses balance very well and neither neck dives, but of course the one with the Mk3 headstock feels like there's nothing there. Also, you can request Paul use the lighter Schaller M4S-Light tuners on the regular headstock, they're quite a bit lighter than the old heavy cast ones.

This was my MK3...absolutely a joy to play. Jon Wright, “SGW Pro Audio” is a very fraudulent, very sneaky person...but also a complete idiot. I sold him my WAL on February 8th. He received it and posted it on reverb for $7995 along with a video of him playing it, talking about how great it payed and sounded. I could care less what he wanted to resell it for, I got want I wanted out of it. Anyhow, he sent me an email today, March 11, over a month later and says it’s basically unplayable. He said the neck wasn’t true, it needed and entire fret job...the works. First off, I know that wasn’t true. Out of the 45 basses I own, this was the absolute best playing bass I owned. He says he wants a refund of $1000. He waits to tell me this a month later? He posts videos of how great it was? He opened up a case through PayPal demanding a refund of $1000 from me. After several emails, I made it clear that he was about to get himself in a lot of trouble with him being a fraudulent buyer/seller. He dropped the case. I’ve never dealt with this idiot before....it sounds like he’s done a lot of shady stuff in the past. If I would have known, I would have never sold it to him. If anyone know how I can take this idiot down, please let me know. Most of us are trust worthy people here...and when you’re dealing with thousands and thousands of dollars, we should be. But this guy is not honest and will do whatever he can to get the most money possible out if people.

Next time he puts a Wal up for sale I think everyone in the club should bombard him with trolling messages!

Where did you have it for sale that he first contacted you about buying it?....

Ya in the US - there's this Colorado based SGW Pro Audio (Jon Wright) to stay clear from and in the UK, there's this place.... Elite Vintage Guitars (Joey Moorehead). He basically does the same thing and buys low priced Wals (and haggles) and flips them. Two that sticks out are this Pro:

WAL Pro IIE, Electric Bass, 1979/80, Black | eBay

and this midi that was the module....



with both these basses its not like he played and owned them for a bit - he immediately listed them on his blog (and FB) as being for sale at a larger premium. Here's some chatter about the Pro in basschat also a bit of feedback of the seller from a previous buyer - sounds similiar to SGW deals that i've been hearing about.

Whatever sequence of events led me to now acquiring this magnificent bass guitar, it is all a mystery.
