Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that I need to part with my Wal Pro II (passive). I have it up in the Wal facebook group right now, and will probably post it on TB by weeks end - just want to avoid selling it to a flipper.

Im glad i didn't have a mouthful of coffee when i read that......would have sprayed it everywhere ...why on earth would anyone want to horde Wals?!?
I look less and less "Crazy" for scoring a 2017 "Geddy" Mk1 back in May for 8K. Some folks were all over me for it at the time. Look what's happening now with these recent sale prices. Mercy! Happy Friday Wal-Nuts

Think I said it somewhere else too. It's not the prices that are crazy it's the people who buy it for that price. If none is going to pay those price then the prices of used Wals will drop eventually. So people who pay those price are keeping the the high Wal prices intact.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy that drives up the price when a few people own a majority of the stock and, as a result, limit supply. I sometimes wonder if people hoard them as a financial investment or because they really love to play all of them.
I've always said that too.
Well, for me I love to play them as my workhorses. I'm a busy gigging semi-pro (yes I have to file taxes), I was playing every weekend up til corona put a stop on venues, and I do 99% of my gigs on a Wal. The gigs I called to be house bassist for jam nite I bring a Fender or StingRay.

I know you are joking but unfortunately that’s how it works with Wal basses these days. They are not for players anymore....

Do Porsches or Lambos mean they aren't for drivers... just collectors? (i come from a car racing background across North America)...i know many kick a$$ drivers who buy these cars cuz they want the epitome of perfect cars - same as Wal basses - price point is higher than most, select few can/will afford them...doesn't mean they aren't for "players".
You be shootin' yourself in the foot when/if you ever sell any of your collectables, no?. I have a few sweet higher end basses, and i openly admit to never aspiring to be a pro musician...doesn't mean i don't want awesome gear - carpal tunnel also hinders me at times - so higher end gear generally has better playability - that too me is worth the extra costs. all IMO of course.
