Wal Bass Club.

 greedy people and not a Wal player, only in this for gouging.

Ya, I'm pretty disgusted seeing this right now. Everytime I see a fairly priced Wal on Facebook, I warn the seller to watch out for certain people that are flippers so a Wal player could make a play for it instead of dude looking to make money. This is yet the worst price gouging I've seen to date for a Wal. Purchased a few days ago for $8500 only to be listed on arrival for $14000?!? :rollno::rollno::rollno:

Would love to hear about the retro-Pro build. Something I’ve always wanted.

I acquired an spare Pro pickup some time ago when I bought a Pro IE. Had multiple projects come to mind, but ended up talking to Paul about doing a build around it back in 2016. He didn't commit to the build by sending me an invoice until 2017 though.

I actually have a single pickup Custom active bass Wal in the style of Jonas Helborg as well. So I asked Paul if he could setup the passive circuit with quick connects so I could swap between the two.

Here's a teaser pic I got a few weeks ago.

A-ha! You have the elusive Pro pickup! That’s what ended my quest for a Pro style build and set me back on the Mk1 chase.
Looking good!

There are other things in play that extend time right now. The plating shops, machine shop, foundries to make the rough Wal parts. All these places will also be working under lockdown restrictions.

RE: the 44 month wait.
^ I posted that over on the facebook page, to which Trevor added yes UK is in full lockdown, and that post brexit outside of UK part deliveries will now add issues as well.
Once life and businesses can resume at a regular pace again, the wait time should go back close to what it was pre-lockdown.

After consulting with Paul on this and getting his OK, I'm reluctantly going to offer my Mk ll 4 string build to whoever want's to jump the 44 month que. A very good long time customer has offered me his "holy grail" bass for purchase and I can't afford both. Logic dictates putting my name back in the que for another Wal at some point.

The MK 2 is due to be finished sometime this month. Spec's are 5A Koa facings, Pau Ferro f/b, black hardware. Paul will provide photos when it's done. The bass will ship direct to your city, any taxes or import fees will be your responsibility.

Unlike some unscrupulous "flippers" (Wal 6'er), I'm not looking to make anything on this bass. My end cost is all I'm asking. PayPal is OK but add 4%. Bank wire in Canadian funds is preferred. PM me for the price if interested.

Here is a photo of what the Koa top will look like.

What a bummer. That koa Mk2 with black hardware is exactly what I would build if I were to do it now, but it's not within my budget at the moment. My first bass (therefore a very special instrument to me) is koa wood and this would hang on the wall just perfectly next to it and my other basses, which are black. It would be two koa, two black, covering every possible sound. Damn.
