I'm sure the Aggie TH will get love here, I need to check one out personally so cannot comment. I do however like the Ampeg Portaflex line (PF-800 to be exact). I am going to use my Portaflex rig tomorrow, leaving the hefty SVT rig alone for this one. : )
You can't carry a diminutive 6 lb head to and from practice and church because ... ... the bag will get dirty? IMO, portability is what makes these lightweight heads so useful! No I am getting the tone I want from the d800 but not from the GK so much. It's ok though just not the right fit in this particular situation.
I can't leave my subway at the church I need it here to practice.
Thanks everybody again! I'll keep my eyes peeled on classifieds
It largely depends on your cabinet as well, because I can plug my MB200 into my an Avatar neo 2x10 and it sounds "warm" with the right bass and EQ settings. I know it's hard to explain things in details sometimes, but if what you mean is less treble or something sounding muddy you might want to turn off tweeters, turn treble down, boost low mids, etc. before jumping into a whole other amp. Adjust playing techniques, try different strings, turn down the tone knob on the bass...there are many things within reason to try.
GK Fusion 500 has a 3 tube preamp, and sounds great.
Truth! So, in a nutshell, the best amp is either the one I just sold or the one I haven't bought yet.![]()
