Warm sounding class d head?

Responses!
We are a small 60 person church. There is no pa support for bass. Thankfully I have one of my Fearful 12/6 which drops the mighty hammer of bass to all corners of church. Can't stop that thing at all.
I know people get very sensitive about prices of stuff but what would be a good price for a TH 500 or GB streamliner 900?
I hate pedals! Sorry but I said it. I am probably a stupid head missing out on a larger world but I am an average trying to get better. I use to spend a lot of time fooling with pedals to "sound better" when i should have been using that time to actually learn how to play. I know most people don't do this! When I get better I may get some pedals but for now, no.
Thanks dudes!
I do exactly as you do

I'm playing a markbass class d (a 12" combo) which I wouldn't call warm. I think I'm going to try my Marshall guv'nor 2 pedal in front of the amp at my next band practice (a folky sort of operation). Although it's a guitar distortion pedal, it has a super versatile eq, which I find works for both guitar and bass. At very low gain settings, it adds a lot of warmth and roundness but still can keep plenty of lows. I actually find it is much better for this job than my ampeg sc-di. You might not be a pedal guy, but this is an easy 30-40 dollar solution if you watch craigslist.

I'm willing to entertain the possibility that I didn't EQ it properly, but I found the markbass head I had (f500) to be very sterile and not warm at all.

I give a +1 for the Streamliner 900.
EQing Markbass heads take some getting use to. To thing to remember is watch the setting went using the VLE and VPF, bass 1 o'clock , mid at 11 o'clock , treble at 2 o'clock , VLE 0n first dot and VPF until I fine the tone I want.

We rent at this church. It is our equipment though. That being said the congregation we rent from will use the equipment we have there. If I take back my subway everytime that leaves them with no bass head. Not a Christian thing to do IMO.
Then again I don't like bringing the mesa at all. Too many kids with too many touchy fingers. I don't want it turning into a 6lb class d football.
You are a generous fellow supplying the fearful 12/6 and amp. In that case go pedal into the GK. Fx forum. I haven't heard a demo of the VT that isn't all fizzed up but there must be some warm in there somewhere.

It sounds like all of the portable amp suggestions are bad, then? Maybe you should find an old Hartke, GK, or Carvin lead-sled that will power your cab and leave that at the church.

So, you are looking for a more affordable D800 that you would not mind leaving at the church? As others mentioned, does this have to be class-D, if it's just going to stay in one place? The Hartke LH500/1000 are great heads, and would do what you are looking for, I would think. The new Peavy MiniMax can be dialed in to sound fairly warm, if you want a lightweight/affordable option. I like the V3 Fender Rumble heads, too. Carvin BX500 might also fit the bill.

Hey guys, What do you guys think of this for a warm/fat gospel tone. Is it useable?
Don't mind the playing as i've only been playing for 6 months. Also don't mind the fret buzz.. just had a major change in weather.

Setup:

- Bass: Yamaha Trbx305 with Bartolini A/P 3 band eq (internal gain set to 0)
eq set flat
D'addario Prosteels .130 .105 .85 .65 .45
- Amp: Aguilar ToneHammer 500 w/ 10db engaged
using DI only
eq set flat (12 o'clock)
Drive all the way down
- TC Electronic Spectra comp bass compressor
"Hold My Neon Mule" MonoNeon tone print
Running in front of the amp
- The DI goes into Scarlet 8i6 Focusrite AI
Into Reaper recording software

Dropbox - Test Tone.wav

I used to gig with a GK1001RB, and used an MB115 at church. I found the GK capable but dry and uninspiring and the low end just wasn't "right." I started using a Sansamp BDDI which helped and used it both on gigs and at church.

When my GK died, I bought a PF500. It sounded like what I was trying to get using the BDDI with the GK. I couldn't be happier.

We ended up ditching the GK at church and went to in-ears exclusively. We replaced the BDDI with a TC Electronics head (preamp and DI used only.) The TC is far closer to the PF-500 than the GK, and I like it a lot.
