The rosewood neck is ultra fast and dead smooth with no finish. About twice a year I wipe it down with a rosewood conditioner on a rag just to keep it looking nice but really its zero maintenance and looks fantastic.
That rosewood neck looks good enough to eat!
That it does! I've contemplated a wenge/wenge neck for my next build, love the look and feel of it as well.

i'm currently building up a short scale (30") block/bound warmoth jazz bass in Mary Kay blonde. here's how it looks so far:

the neck is warmoth, b.e. maple, with the gorgeous pau ferro board on top.

John - Very nice! That grain really shows fantastic thru the Mary Kay finish, is it swamp ash? And the MOP block really brings it all together. The tort pic guard looks nice too. As an alternate, have you ever seen the wavy MOP type material Dano uses on their guitar pick guards, it would go perfect with the blocks on your neck. Assuming that's a Warmoth neck, did you go with the graphite rod neck or stay with the steel rod neck?

warmoth's SS necks don't have any extra support rods (graphite or steel), and i've never been a fan of pearloid guards on a fender bass. to me, it was either tort, parchment or single ply white, so i went with tort (and dyed it to be a little more red).

Warmoth's gold is not brass fretwire, though.
Here's one of my Warmoths.
Correct on the fret wire, I just call it brass because it looks and feels like it and it's easier than calling it "gold colored nickel free copper alloy that's hard as stainless". It does hold it's shine very well, much more than my Warwick bass "brass" (I don't know the actual fret compound for warwick) frets.
I love the neck on your bass, is that blood wood or something else? And the control layout looks interesting as well. What do you have the strat type switch set up to do?
The neat thing about Warmoth basses is the customization that the owners put into them. Lots of neat ideas and wood selections and pup layouts and controls. Gotta love it.
